Odd Question

Post by AlphaWhiskey »

Howdy all. I'm a new member to the site with, perhaps, an a-typical noob question. Has anybody dealt with a lapse in application process in the past? I submitted my application online a couple of years ago and never got around to finishing up the training due to a ton of work related travel. Things finally slowed down, I finally got my act together, and completed the training today. I thought I remembered that the application was only good for one calendar year following submission, so I went to the DPS site, clicked on submit new application, and it took me directly to my original status page that read they were waiting for the required documentation.

I'm hoping it really is as simple as just submitting the docs and photos under cover of my old application but things never seem to work out that easily for me! I registered for an appountment to take my prints and Morpho was able to pull up the application number, so things seem somewhat kosher. I submitted an online request for info from DPS as to how I should proceed, but was wondering if anybody else here had come across this in the past? Thanks!

I could be mistaken, but I think the CHL 100 (certification from your instructor) is good for 1 year, but the fee and application is good for 2 years.

Close. CHL-100 is good 2 years; app is good 1 year.

I just received confirmation back from DPS that I will need to file a new online application. It looks like they had to manually reset it in the system as I cannot go in and reapply until after tomorrow. For anybody else who might find themselves in this odd predicament, it has been confirmed that the application is only good for one year. I just hope this doesn't mess things up with the prints I had taken at the end of last week!

Just closing the loop on this. My prints were submitted under the old (expired) application, but only days before the new application was accepted by DPS. Long story short, my app was hung up online waiting for prints two weeks ago. All it took was one phone call to a very nice lady at DPS to explain the situation and I went from waiting on prints to pending manufacturing within two hours. I have plastic in hand as of yesterday, which equates to less than six weeks from mailed to received. Making a phone call when warranted definitely seems to help put yourself to the top of the pile! YMMV

Love a happy ending.
