I always liked the signs in highway medians that say "State Law: Observe Warning Signs" Observe means to see something -- "Yes, officer, I saw the sign, very pretty, what about it?"
(It said I should see it, not obey it!)

Also, "Watch for falling rocks" -- well, ok, but only for 10 minutes, then I have to be moving on...

Bait Sandwiches

Post by rthillusa »

A little convenience store in Lucas, on the road to Lake Lavon, had a sign promoting a couple of their hot items for hungry fisherman. Big sign over store said:
BAIT
SANDWICHES

One purchase covered both your fishing needs and your meal on the way home.

There should be a mandatory car wash in the South bound lanes at the state line------to keep people from tracking Oklahoma into Texas. "rlol"

I sincerely apologize to anybody I offended by suggesting the Second Amendment also applies to The People who don't work for the government.

Google maps last week told me "We can't find a route from your location to there" when looking to go to a nearby town.
Just for fun I tried to get the message again but couldn't, so here's another funny ...

Some chemical plants i've worked at have speed limits in increments of .25 or .5. Thought it was a joke the first time I saw one.

My grandmother was very literal. When I was a child, before there was a NY State Thruway, we used to make regular treks to West Point from our home in upstate NY, and as we drove over the Storm King highway just north of "The Point" there would not only be those signs, but frequently some fallen rocks in the road. Once we even came upon a ten wheeler tractor trailer which had collided with a large specimen. My poor grandmother would cower in fear in the middle of the back seat during that part of the trip, the same grandmother who was born near Santa Fe in 1879, and once as a teenager "held off" a "band of indians" with her trust little S&W .25 caliber revolver. Actually, she and her mother had just gotten off a stage and a couple of indigent locals crowded around them to panhandle a little, and she pulled her gun and they ran away, family legends are such fun. Anyway, she was always convinced that some day a rock was going to come crashing down on us and annihilate the family, as she had seen happen back in the "old west."

I'm disappointed. Used to be you could enter NYC and London, England, in Google maps and it told you how to go to a certain dock, jump in, swim to a dock in England, and then proceed to London. Doesn't work anymore.
