Hello, I am seeking a job, and I am very intrigued with guns, and I am also very eager to learn more. I am working on Computer Science to go into Gunsmithing, and want to become my own FFL dealer, and open my own gun retail. I have a resume ready.

IMO, just because you like guns, working in a retail gun shop will not give you any insight into becoming a gunsmith or retail store owner.

I am looking for work, and I have some warehouse interviews. But, that money will never compare to the money I made at Walmart DC..I want to go back, but at the same time.. SOOO much bull..I am pretty darn sure that I wil enjoy the gun retail, and would like to build the guns at the manufacture or design them on the computer.. I know im young and it is really hard to figure out what to do in my life. So many different directions, and I am pretty sure it will envolve computers. So far every degree/major change i've done has envolved computer science or engineering. For gunsmitthing I know I had an ealier post about what should I study in to become a gunsmith. The CAD course people listed will be helpful, but also I am so unsure on how to start in that direction for guns.It feels so insanly hard to figure out an career, but thats also why people probably stick with a career that they are good at more of interested in. Luckly my dads company is doing a job workshop next month to help out college students, and I am really excited about it.

If you really want to make and or design guns, rather than being a gunsmith who can improve or modify them, go to college and get a mechanical engineering degree.

We used to call them BB stackers. The Army EOD guys that flunked out of EOD school were automatically BB stackers. None of the Army guys wanted to flunk out of EOD school due to that job.

Mechanical engineering is a difficult discipline. A good grasp of mathematics, physics and material properties is essential for obtaining an engineering degree.

On the other hand, most mechanical engineers are not good designers or machinists. They can make a computer models of just about anything. The design may be functional, but may be overly complex and difficult or impossible to manufacture economically.

An engineer who is good at design and manufacturing has a distinct advantage over the engineer with just book learning.

Thank You, I'm glad I have some Calculus 4 friends who could help, and in physics. I undertand what you mean though. I feel I would be better with the hands on work, than the book learning.
