Dumb Vice Presidents

Post by VoiceofReason »

Why do Presidential candidates pick Vice Presidential candidates that are dumb? Is it to make them look smarter? Is it to discourage assassination attempts because “look who will become president”?

-- During a Sept. 12, 2008, speech in Columbia, Mo., Biden called for Missouri State Sen. Chuck Graham, who is wheelchair-bound, to "stand up." "Oh, God love ya," Biden said, after realizing his mistake. "What am I talking about?"

-- In a Sept. 22, 2008, CBS interview, Joe Biden misspoke when he said Franklin D. Roosevelt was president when the stock market crashed in 1929.
"When the stock market crashed, Franklin D. Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed. He said, 'Look, here's what happened," he said.

Herbert Hoover -- not Roosevelt -- was president in 1929, and television had not yet been invented in 1929. "rlol" "rlol" "rlol"
God Bless America, and please hurry.
When I was young I knew all the answers. When I got older I started to realize I just hadn’t quite understood the questions.-Me

I think it's mostly to get the votes that the president wouldn't get.
BTW, I thought Herbert Hoover invented the vacuum cleaner.

I don't recall anything strange that Bush 41 did as VP.

What she actually said in that interview was not much better.

I'm not familiar with what she said in that interview, but does it really rank up there with just about anything Uncle Joe has said or the few stumbles of Dan Quayle or of a presidential candidate thinking there are 58 states?

You're correct. I was thinking on his presidency.

That one did come back to bite him. That was a promise he ultimately could not deliver, but I think that is dramatically different than some of the bonehead statements some of the other entrants have made.

I've always wondered where the proof of that was...because I do know that many folks on the left didn't like J. Edgar Hoover because of his anti-communist beliefs...and I'm sure they would want to damage his reputation in retaliation.
