The movie Battleship

I saw the movie Battleship today. I didn't go in with very high expectations as Rotten Tomatoes only gave it a 36% positive review rating.

However it was a lot of fun. Ten times the movie that the Avengers was suppose to be.

It is a very patriotic movie. I wonder if reviewers, like the press are liberal.

One of the movies stars is West Point Grad Col. Gregory Gadston who is a double amputee. He played a powerful role and I expect we will see him again.

Yes you need to leave your thinking cap at home when you see it, but no more than you did with the Avengers.

I plan to buy the Blueray as I want to see it again.

We set our expectations that is was a summertime "popcorn movie" and we were happy with the result! Yes, HUGE plot holes, some moments, but otherwise awesome.

I was just talking with my son over lunch yesterday about these two movies. He has seen both, and I've seen neither. He said the opposite: that Avengers was a much better movie than Battleship; but he did say that I would appreciate the historical references made in Battleship. BTW, my son is somewhere to the right of me, politically, and I'm a pretty conservative guy. He has also turned out to be a pretty perceptive movie critic. I'll probably see both, but of the two, the only one that I will maybe see in the theater is Avengers. I might just way til they're both available on Netflix.

So... apart from the Name, how exactly did they tie Battleship into the game? Did they use a pegboard map to track the bag guys? Did somebody exclaim "You sunk my battleship!!!" "C-10!" "A-6!" "Miss!" "Hit!"

Pretty close but I'm not saying how they did it.

There is a big tie in to the board game, which I totally missed and did not get until it was pointed out during the credits. I felt pretty stupid I totally missed it. I will not mention it, so as not to spoil it.

If you were in the Navy or like seeing big Naval vessels this is your movie. If your a physicist or cosmologist and understand the speed of light you might want to stay away.

I enjoyed both of the movies! Avengers was just....well... cool. LoL. Everything I expected, and more. Battleship was super cool for me as well. I served on the Ronald Reagan CVN 76, which plays a part as the Flag Ship in the movie..so it was nice to see her in the movie. The best part about Battleship was the USS Missouri, swinging her gun turrets around like a beast blasting all her guns. I'm too young to have seen any battleships in action, and it's a sad thing I am. Battleships are one of those things dreams are made of....

He is still on active duty and is the Army's Wounded Warrior director. Great Man!

COL Gregory D. Gadson currently serves as the Director of the U.S. Army Wounded Warrior Program (AW2). A highly-decorated military officer, COL Gadson has served in the U.S. Army for more than 20 years as a field artillery officer. COL Gadson’s awards include 3 Bronze Star Medals, a Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal (3 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (2 OLC), National Defense Service Medal (2 OLC), Southwest Asia Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, 2 Armed Forces Expeditionary Medals, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Saudi Arabian Liberation Medal, Kuwaiti Liberation Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, and the Iraq Campaign Medal. He is also authorized to wear the Combat Action Badge and the Master Parachutist Badge.

A 1989 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, COL Gadson holds Masters Degrees in Information Systems and Policy Management from Webster University. In 2010, he was an Army War College Fellow at the Institute of World Politics in Washington, D.C.
