I think the manager was trying to tell you they had a liquor license that says GUN SIGN=RED on the license. To him, that was the 'type' of license he had. Many managers do not know the law on why they have something, just the guidelines that it is there. If it is a chain, then there is a real good possibility that corporate makes arrangements for the license, then directs them to put up the proper sign.

If you want to see if they really are a 51% location, just go to http://www.tabc.state.tx.us/PublicInquiry/Status.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and enter their information and you can see if they are a red (>51%) or blue (<51%)sign location.

That's what started this whole thing. The TABC website shows the establishment as "blue", the owner swears he's "red"...

Just call the TABC. They will pay the establishment a visit and will get the owner "educated" and will make sure that the correct sign is posted. :tiphat:

Or, since you know the truth about his license you could just carry away, keep it concealed, and if for any reason you are arrested for carrying there you could not be prosecuted and you might receive a nice little paycheck from the ignorant restaurant owner.

Or just go show him on his license where it says 'GUN SIGN=BLUE' and then tell him you would hate to see him get audited by the TABC and end up with a fine for having the wrong sign posted.

It seems to me the best course is to simply report them to TABC and not talk to anyone at the business about the signs. That way they never know why someone, like a CHL, would want it changed. I think it is better to let TABC do their job than to try to deal with ignorant people. :thumbs2:

I agree that it is probably better to let the TABC do their job. I don't think most business owners would believe a customer's opinion about TABC regulations, but the subject of CHL does not have to come up when talking to a business owner about proper 51% signage.

I wouldn't hate it at all, especially if they argue with customers who actually are right. :evil2:
I sincerely apologize to anybody I offended by suggesting the Second Amendment also applies to The People who don't work for the government.
