Even more Zombies

Post by JJVP »

In yet another horrifying incident of human flesh-eating this week, a student in Maryland allegedly admitted to devouring his roommate's brain and heart.

Ok, that was real life gross. I can handle movie gross, but real life gross is, well, just gross.

Face eater, intestine thrower, brain and heart muncher.

Let's see, do I want the AR or do I break out the 300 win mag bolt action and go for the long distance shots?

Some of them (I didn't see a way to get a nice list of all the comments, so I read a few then got annoyed with all the clicking and came back here to reply).

Nobody seemed to wonder if such incidents are actually increasing or if the media has just shifted what it's reporting on now that the country in firmly in the grasp of Zombie Mania.

Actually, these kinds of things are always going on, but the media doesn't usually fixate on them. Then you have one particular case which is not only sensational—like the guy in Florida who did it in broad daylight, while naked, growled like an animal at police, and had to be shot 4 or 5 times before he desisted—but is VERY public. That one was even partially recorded on video. There is not only no way for media to ignore it, but it SELLS. So now they go looking for other cases of cannibalism, and of course they find some because they've been there all along. So now we have a frenzy of zombie reporting. Eventually, the reporting will die down as some new object of sensationalism is discovered; but the cannibalism will continue, as it always has.....because there will always be a certain small segment of the population tormented by this particular type of dark insanity.

Yeah, that's kinda what I figured. I am surprised that those school evacuations didn't make the news. I guess they're more common (and less news-worthy) than I thought.

Well now, Dave2 and TAM start to get to the bottom of this thing. Yes indeed, sensationalism sells. And you know what else it does besides sell? It DISTRACTS! It distracts the public from any larger, more serious issues going on, like CONTEMPT charges for Eric Holder...or a giant bank bailout in Spain, propping up the euro (why do I have a feeling that somehow AMERICAN taxpayers will pay for some of that?)...or the ongoing mess in Syria...or any other large issues that make the current administration look bad or put them in a bad light...anyone who thinks the press and mainstream media isn't capable of doing something like this really underestimates the "power of the press"...

The propaganda power in an election year.
