Just happy to be here

Post by Exile33 »

Like some others that I've read about here over the last month or so, I swore to myself I wasn't going to worry about the wait.
Wasn't even going to check in on it.
It is what it is and it'd take as long as it took.
So I just threw my packet in the mail on Feb. 7th and did my best to forget about it.

Got my pin in the mail a few days back though.
Even managed to let it sit on my desk for a couple of them.

But I broke.
And now that I've checked once, you know I'll be back just hoping to see a change in my status.

So now my wait feels like it's truly begun.
Thanks to all for making my wait so far informative and fun!

Welcome aboard.

I have found that the knowledge base here is amazing.

Thanks everyone.
The warm welcome and commiseration is much appreciated.

And on that note, finding myself with an afternoon without any serious responsibilities (that can't wait until another time), I think I'll head over to the range before my wife gets home.

Heck, maybe she'll even want to go back out with me later for a little practice for herself.

Life is good.

Welcome exile33!

Now that you finally gave in and checked your status may I suggest you make a shortcut to the DPS CHL page on your desktop. It'll save a lot of time and typing.

It's gonna get a lot of use now that you stepped over the line....not that I'd know or anything....

I suppose this'd be as good a time as any to admit I've already fallen this far.

I'm in the same boat as you. I took the class the same day and mailed it off about 2 days earlier. "Processing Application" to me is almost as frustrating as not knowing if they got it or not.

I've managed to keep very, very busy lately with my wife and I moving into our new house and all just this past weekend, so I've not worried much over my application. I didn't even have internet access for a couple days there during the transition.
But when I finally got everything hooked back up I was rewarded with notification on the DPS site that my lisence had been issued!

I'm guessing they changed my status last Thursday because I actually got my plastic last night and by my count that was 46 days from the day I mailed the packet to the day I had the plastic.

Not bad at all!

Thank you all for keeping me company and to all those who moved out of the Waiting Room that I didn't get to congratulate over the last couple weeks, I'm sorry, but it's been a bit crazy around my house(s).

I'm looking for an excuse to do my Wally Walk over the next couple days but I honestly think my first practical outing will be to Lowes. Between there and Home Depot, I don't think I'll have a spare dollar for recreation ever again!

Be safe. I'll be out there with y'all.

If you just moved, does DPS have your new address?

Yeah, I've filed a change with them now that I have the lisence in hand.
I was concerned when I took the class, knowing that I'd be buying a house during the time that my application was being processed but the timing worked out pretty well.
We took possession of the house on the 20th and that gave me lots of room within my 30 day period to notify regarding a change of address.

Back to work with me though.
Electrician is coming tomorrow so I'd better get this computer torn down so he get get at the wall *sigh*

See y'all soon. (with any luck!)
