Interesting turn of events

Post by Songbird »

Another property protected, another BG out of the picture. Three were involved in the attempted robbery, one dead (at the hand of the property owner), and the other two charged with murder!

...I don't think any of us are bloodthirsty...but I cheer every time a homeowner or business owner stops one of these scumbags who'd rather take at gunpoint rather than work for what they need...they have to be stopped...and, given the timing of the crime, it's not likely the police will ever be there when they kick the door...someone kicks in my door...if they live it'll be because I ran out of lead...and I'll be glad they didn't choose the houses either side of me, where there're families who're unarmed and have children...it has to stop...superior firepower judiciously applied is the only way...

:iagree:
By the time an individual decides to participate in a home invasion, he has crossed a big line. These are not your run of the mill burglars, these are guys who are looking to violently confront their victims as well as rob them. Removing them from society with a .357 is the most economical, practical and logical solution.

It is my personal opinion that it is indeed serious business to take another human being's life and that I hope to never have to do so. That being said, each human being gets an unknown number of hours on this earth. Most of us have to spend a goodly number of those hours working to acquire food, clothing and shelter, and then other things that we either need or want. Those hours can NEVER be gotten back once they are gone. So, when others decide to come to your dwelling or place of business and take your stuff, they are also taking hours of your life with them. Now, I'm not saying that the stuff nor the hours are more valuable than the other human being per se...but YOUR hours on this earth are certainly no less valuable than the hours of the bad guy(s). And its the action of the bad guy(s) to take your stuff instead of spending their hours working an actual job to acquire said things that makes it seem they feel otherwise. And if they feel like that, there is probably not much stopping them from attempting to take the remaining hours of your life in one swoop, putting you and yours in serious jeopardy. I stand by earlier statements that I have made saying that I will allow them to take my stuff, in general, if no human is placed in harm while its happening...but that is only because the cost that our society will add forcing me to jump through hoops to defend my actions if I harm or kill one of the bad guys while they are in the commission of their crimes. However, I will do my best to stop them from harming either my friends, loved ones, or myself. Once again, this is my PERSONAL opinion, YMMV.

I can't agree with this. I will grimly shoot to stop a home invader if necessary; and if he is killed, I'll deal with it. But I am not their judge, jury, and executioner. It would by far be my preference that, once confronted with an armed homeowner, the bad guy would comply with my shouted commands to lie down, shut up, and not move a whisker until the police get there. My goal is to stop the threat, and if possible, hold the bad guy for the police, and only if not otherwise avoidable, shoot him until he stops. I don't have a problem doing that if that's what's necessary. But I will not be judge, jury and executioner, "removing him from society with a .357 because it is the most economical, practical, and logica solution." I have to face a righteous God in my daily prayers. I don't want to do that with unrighteous thoughts on my conscience.

But that's just me. YMMV.

Died of a gunshot wound to his right hip?

Did he bleed to death? :headscratch
The laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.

I imagine his femoral artery was hit, and he bled out.
I'll quit carrying a gun when they make murder and armed robbery illegal
