Gun At Doctor's Office
Suppose you have a gun friendly doctor. I do.
Would showing up at the the doctor's office with a pistol, and taking it off in front of him/her so he could do an exam constitute a failure to conceal?
I'm NOT asking if the doctor would tell anyone. Mine wouldn't. I'm just wondering if it's a technical violation.
Thanks in advance for the learned advice...

Based upon another thread started by GJwitha45, I have decided that I won't be bringing up my CHL to my doc anytime in the near or foreseeable future.
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

Techncally yes. In practice I wouldnt worry about it any more than I worry about taking off a cover garment at a pro gun friend's house.alphonso wrote:Suppose you have a gun friendly doctor. I do.

No doctor that I've ever been to has asked for me to undress in front of them. If they wouldn't give me the privacy to change, I'd be be leaving and finding a new doc!

When I've gone it's usually been with the wife and she holds the gun. But like was mentioned , I have always been given the privilege of undressing in private so I could tuck it into my folded clothes.
Happily serving in the USAF.

I haven't had to disrobe yet. Only drop 'em enough to get that steroid shot once or twice a year.discoqueen wrote:No doctor that I've ever been to has asked for me to undress in front of them. If they wouldn't give me the privacy to change, I'd be be leaving and finding a new doc!

Re: Gun At Doctor's Office
I had to drop my drawers last year for my first prostrate exam. I had forgotten about my PM9 in my Inside the waistband holster until I was already turned around in the drop em position as I was leaning over that thing that looks like a bed. I was so embarrassed about what I was about to suffer, I just went into stupid mode and acted as if the gun were not hanging from my belt. I said, well... That was embarrassing(referring to my handgun) and he said... Trust me... It is far worse from where I am sitting. I didn't laugh until I thought about it later. Any male who has had this exam will know why laughing at the wrong instant could be fatal.
Anyway... Point is... He never said a word about the gun and neither did I. He either didn't notice it or just didn't care.
Just for the record... I am not recommending this approach. It was an accident on my part. I normally put my rig in my front pocket just before the dr comes in. Anyone else remember their first prostrate exam? It is horrible!!

Re: Gun At Doctor's Office
I have 4 checkups a year—two from my regular MD to check BP, thyroid levels, cholesterol, etc., and two from my urologist. In all four, there is usually a need to at least partially disrobe. I carry my weapon in a Versipack Fatboy-S from Maxpedition to those office visits and that solves the problem. Ditto for my physical therapy appointments.
Recently, I had to make a quick visit to my MD's office to talk about my lab results and I was carrying on my belt. His nurse wanted to weigh me again, even though I had just been weighed 7 days earlier. I said, "well I'm carrying things that I'd rather not weigh." She replied "that's OK, just go ahead and empty your pockets onto the counter here." I said, "Well.....that wouldn't be entirely legal" and looked at her with a cocked eyebrow. She looked confused for just a couple of seconds, then you could see the lights come on and she smiled and said "Oh! Never mind....just step into this exam room here," and left me alone to wait for the doctor.

I know some docs have a God complex but that's a little extreme.03Lightningrocks wrote:I had to drop my drawers last year for my first prostrate exam.

Somebody doesn't know what a prostrate exam is yet.The Annoyed Man wrote:You must not be of that age yet........trust me.....it will happen to you at least once a year once you get into your 50s.apostate wrote:I know some docs have a God complex but that's a little extreme.03Lightningrocks wrote:I had to drop my drawers last year for my first prostrate exam.

That's the one where you have to lie down and prostrate yourself while the doctor checks your prostate.03Lightningrocks wrote:I was not real sure how to respond...LOL. Then it hit me... I am on my iPad and it likes to correct my spelling without permission. I never know what word is going to pop up next
