IDK, I can't explain it. Maybe it's got something to do with air flow around it that is being heated up by the sun. Yours has it under the seat, while in my situations it does not.

While at work I keep mine in a door panel pocket. Can't see it with the door closed. This week it has been extremmly hot when I go to leave. I know it has not been in direct sun light. Inside the cars get extremmly hot lately. I have been trying to remeber to put it in my lock box and crack all the windows. Another opetion you may try is to get a small ice chest to put it in during the day. That may help keep it a little cooler.

I also work for the school as a driver and keep my pistol in the center console. It doesn't get so hot that I can't put it in the holster.

Yesterday after work I took mine out of the console and attempted to reholster IWB. The hot slide touched my bare skin during the attempt and thoroughly convinced me to wait til it cooled down. The outside temp was only 104 but it was evidently much hotter in that console. Not enough room under the seat for a lock box so I'm kind of stuck.

I said this earlier but will ask it again. Wouldn't it be easier, since we can carry in the car, to wait for the gun to cool off before reholstering? Drawing from a holster while buckled in is harder and slower than grabbing it from the console or from under the seat anyway.

Your assuming there is not already a vehicle gun in place.
And personally, my gun moves with, if I get out of the vehicle for any reason, I want it in my holster where it belongs, not stuffed under the seat.

Same reason my cell phone is in a pocket.. not in the center consol

No.... I was not assuming anything. I was simply suggesting that one has options beyond being branded by hot iron. the thought process is that the gun will have a chance to cool before a person needs to exit the vehicle, at which time, one can reholster the weapon without the pain.

Btw... The cell phone is not in the consol because it is not law to conceal it. I keep mine in a cup holder for easy access.... Not stuffed in my pocket.

I think my choice of "assume" came across poorly, not intended..

What I was trying to say is.. Many don’t have a need to have the gun normally holstered "open" and available in the vehicle, as a weapon is already in place for that.

On the "with me" part, both gun and phone.... that just comes from my training and background... everything you need, is on you at all times, as you don’t control when you need to move,, the enemy gets a vote.. .. Arguable, not an issue in the civilian world, and I should get used to not applying that mental mindset to things I respond to here.

We are on the same page on carrying at all times. I am fortunate to have a job that does not require I disarm. I think the op does not have this luxury and is forced to leave his gun in the car while at work. I didn't mean to suggest one should not carry on their person, only that the option would be to wait until the weapon cools and reholster or "man up" and take the pain... . Holding the weapon in view while allowing the air to blow on it might get you in trouble for failure to conceal. Not many options from the way I see it.

I was actually thinking of something like that. Darn!!! I wonder how long that thing would run before draining the car battery. To be prepared, one would need to have a spare battery in the trunk or a boost charger from SAMs . The other issue is security. I hate leaving a weapon in the car where a thief can simply grab it and run. I would want to at least make the thief hang around and earn it.

My locker in one of the cars is lined with Thermo-Tec Adhesive Backed Heat Barrier.. Gun comes out not much warmer then when placed in the locker.. Inside vehicle temps in the 140 - 160 deg range.

Excellent idea. Combined with keeping the direct sunlight off the container would allow the weapon to be holstered immediately upon removal from the container.
