Audit Complete

Post by Seabear »

I'm not sure how things will work in other areas, however my audit was very pleasant and short. I did have some issues with the questions though.

First off they should know if my cert. is current AND if I have completed an instructor course.

6.86 Was prior DPS written approval obtained before a guest instructor used? Yes or No....I have never used one so there is no correct answer really.

Under 6.87
Is there a record of each license applicant who has applied? Yes or no.....How do I know if they ever applied after taking the class.

Is there a record of post-test scores ?

Is there a record of written critiques or notes by instructor?

Is there a record of proficiency demonstrations?

6.88

Are accidental discharge reports submitted to the department. Yes or no...I have never had any , so there is no correct answer.

Everything went quick and smooth, however I had to wonder about these questions. My guy left me a copy of the questions just FYI, so I know how they were worded.

Anyways, done for now. :hurry: :clapping:

In addition, it says that any question that has a "No" response must have an explanation. :rules:

But it doesn't say you have to explain an 'N/A' answer.

Just got mine about 5 minutes ago, took all of 10 minutes, he did say he will be hitting all the Houston area instructors soon. It was painless and he is listing it as NA on the form if you have not had an incident under that question. They are starting with the easy to get to CHL instructors and working it down from there so you will be contacted. Good luck but not anything to worry about as long as you have kept your records. I did have everything laid out and in boxes for the last 3 years, he did check for written scores for shooting and the written test, we keep it on the same piece of paper looked at one and was happy with it.

Do you mean graded test sheets and scores for targets? If so, please PM or call because I need to pass this along to DPS. Scores are not to be kept apart from the CHL-100s and all auditors were so advised.

Thanks,
Chas.

My audit was completed yesterday. I met with a nice lady from the Mount Pleasant DPS Compliance office. She asked the questions on the form we all received last year, I signed some forms, and the whole thing was over in less than half an hour.

It was an audit in name only. I was prepared to show my files, lesson plans, instruction material, etc., but that was not what she was there for.

As she left, she commented that she was going to the local hospital to the security office to check their documentation. To me, that is an indicator that CHL Instructors' documentation will be checked in the future.

are you talking about the actual targets and tests or just the pass and fail of your students ? i was told in my instructor class to throw away and shred the targets and tests only pass or fail ........
