Thursday, the Senate Committee on Public Safety voted 7-2 in favor of House Bill 2522, which would allow firearms to be carried openly without a concealed-carry permit.
...
During committee discussions, Shortey argued that he shouldn't be required to pay fees and get a license to carry a weapon. Here's how he justified that:
"I was in oil and gas," Shortey said. "I was out on a lease at one time and I got attacked by a turkey. Wait until you get attacked by a turkey. You will know the fear that a turkey can invoke in a person. And so I beat it with a club. That was all I could do.

Hey, its a rather rural state in large part...whatever works to get Constitutional carry for them, fine by me, even if it sounds a little silly.

Wow! Their open carry law with a license hasn't even gone into effect yet and they've already put up a new one to allow open carry without a license. That's FAST! Was that fast? I thought that was fast.

I hope Texas follows. They should have led.
I am not a die hard fan of open carry, but the removal of ANY restrictions of gun ownership/carry is a plus in my book.

That's the problem with freedom. Sometimes people are going to do and say things you don't like.

It's a price I'm willing to pay. :thumbs2:

Indeed. Sometimes it even purifies the gene pool.
