It's definitely a different ceremony, but I love that fact that the citizens show so much pride in their country (even if it's just closing the borders for the night).

I think its like a drill team and that crazy stepping is their way of staying choreographed. Looks like something the British Army might do, but seriously exaggerated. Very cool demonstration, though.

Ah, I see. I hadn't watched the second one, but I guess that explains it. If that's what it takes to avert nuclear war between India and Pokkistan, then I'm all for it. I noticed that at the very end of all the strutting, the border guard from each side flew toward one another, turned aside just before crossing the border, and gave each other a brief handshake. Very interesting, considering the official position of both nations vis-a-vis one another. One would hope that, at least at that border crossing, the soldiers on either side would do all they could to keep shaking hands instead of killing one another.

The pee-pee dance is still pretty silly though.

That was cool to see, and TAM, thanks to you I couldn't stop laughing as I watched it. I couldn't help but to think the second video was very Monty Python esque, but I was very impressed with the moustaches.

I was in USMC artillery and shot 155s. It was neat to see all of the automation on that howitzer, but to be honest it really didn't appear to be much faster than manual gunnery and I was left in wonderment as to why they need an eight man gun crew with all that technology. The range was impressive as it definitely shot several miles further than our M198's even with rocket assisted rounds (in the mid 90's at least). There is just something downright satisfying about shooting a 95lb bullet and having it hit a target nearly 20 miles away!

This reminds me of the old comedy routine about flipping a coin in sporting events. Assuming that tactic had been used during the revolution and the American's won the toss, then they could choose to wear green clothing, shoot from behind trees, rocks and anything else. The Brits would have to wear red coats, march in a line in the open.

Lord, let me not have to fight anyone, but if I must, let it be some goose-stepping fool dressed in bright colors!

I loved the second video of the border closing ceremony. I didn't see it as humorous at all.

It reminded me of British changing of the guard ceremonies (which I assume it is derived from for obvious historical reasons), USMC drill-teams and the like.

It also was refreshing to see two nations that are constantly fighting openly or covertly against one another engage in such a cooperative ceremony.

I in no way mistakenly take this as a demonstration of Military prowess.

I really thought it was cool.
