North Carolina: map of CC holders
North Carolina: map of CC holders
Found this on another forum...they are saying that the map points out which houses have CC holders.

That's pretty scary! The search only works at the street level for those counties in the WRAL viewing area....but wow!
Depending on the # of houses, it might be easy to deduce the house that has a CC holder.
Glad TX is a state where this type of privacy invasion is not permitted. I'm originally from NC; glad I got out.

I'm glad, too. Just ridiculous and dangerous, IMO.
Someone from NC posted this morning. She says that the map is inaccurate or not working correctly - she and the neighbors she knows that have CC's don't show up.

Re: North Carolina: map of CC holders
I guess the article is slightly interesting for perspective. If I had the time I might redo the map with the raw numbers instead of the rates, which tells a slightly different story. Durham county is 100/100 in per capita permit holders, but appears to be one of the top five in raw numbers, while Cherokee county leads the state in per capita, but falls about in the mid range in raw numbers.
I do find myself wondering if they created the map per capita to tell a particular tale.

Sure they did. It shows if you randomly pick someone in that county, what's the chance they have a CHL.jimlongley wrote:I guess the article is slightly interesting for perspective. My wife's aunt lives in Ashe county, outside the details on this map. The concentration of CHLs in Ashe county is pretty low in comparison to others. Based our frequent visits there , the concentration of firearms isn't low at all. Just sayin'.recaffeination wrote:Sure they did. Some of the other counties show 6 percent - double Ashe county on CHLs.apostate wrote:chasfm11 wrote:My wife's aunt lives in Ashe county, outside the details on this map. The concentration of CHLs in Ashe county is pretty low in comparison to others.![]()

If it were my neighborhood I would know which houses were who's. If it were a neighborhood I was just familiar with it could better pick the houses to avoid as targets if I were a BG.LabRat wrote:That's pretty scary! Where does she live? The website says the WRAL database has licenses for the Raleigh-Durham area.Birdie wrote:I'm glad, too. Just ridiculous and dangerous, IMO.

"This database contains concealed weapons permit holders for the WRAL viewing area, including those in Chatham, Cumberland, Durham, Edgecombe, Franklin, Granville, Halifax, Harnett, Hoke, Johnston, Lee, Moore, Orange, Nash, Northampton, Person, Sampson, Vance, Warren, Wayne, Wilson, and Wake counties."
A college buddy lives in Raleigh and said he entered his street and zip code and one of the (less than 10) records returned has his expiration date. I think folks in NC should collect the names and home addresses of the reporters and post them online, along with names and home addresses for NC politicians and judges. Think of it as sauce for the gander.

I think someone should publish the names, addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses, SSN, and bank accounts for everyone who worked for the TV station that had a part in this story.
