Six years ago when I met Mrs. Snatchel, she was a recent immigrant from a 3rd world country that is extremely anti-gun. She migrates to California, where I met her. We all know the policy and general consensus of Californians, and her ideologies never changed.
Fast forward to our move to Texas, and Mrs. Snatchel being exposed to a culture where fireamrs are not only acceptable, but durn near mandatory. She viewed them as a silly, expensive, and dangerous hobby, and saw no reason for a person to own one-for protection or otherwise.
I have been carrying long before we moved to Texas under a FL CHL, so she was accustomed to me carrying whenever we would leave CA. When we moved to TX, she had to get used to me carrying 24/7. She thought it was silly and paranoid, but she was a good sport for the most part.
Today, the Batman Shooting really shook her up. For the first time I saw fear in her face as the realization that violence surrounds her, and these things can happen to anyone, anywhere. It is so strange how the realization hit and changed her whole thought process in about 5 seconds. She noticed this, and commented on her late night study habits with her girlfriend/classmate that tend to keep her out till 3 a.m. on most weeknights.
Anyway. This evening we shot up some paper plates and knocked out the online application. She will be looking for a CHL class soon.
