Been using that same load and bullet for about 20 years...it's a good one!

I do to some degree. For 45 ACP I load Barnes TAC-XP FB 185 Grain. I also use some factory loads in 45 ACP.
I use only factory for 9mm or .380 but may start loading 9mm soon.

Wouldn't that give the bg a reason to sue for damages in a civil case? I can just imagine his Attorney in court... :cup: Mr. ccw did you not develop that ammunition PERSONALLY to ensure that it would cause more pain and suffering to my client? Isn't it true that standard self-defense ammunition wasn't destructive or powerful enough for you to carry?

I have heard this argument before... personally, I would be willing to take that risk. The "deadly hollow point tip cop killer bullets" I would be reloading would be identical to the "speer gold dot deady hollow point tip cop killer bullets" that I normally carry.

I would go ahead and mark that argument up to garbage.... YMMV.

For those that do handload 9mm or 45 ACP, would you share your recipe? I know this will take it off topic into the "reloading" threads... but still.

Chas.
9x23 is a super cool round Mr. Cotton. I'd love to investigate further what that little guy is all about!

An attorney can try to argue anything in court. But arguing it and proving it are two different things. It is like this. I didn't make the bullet and it is the same one used in many commercial loads. And I don't load for ammunition for killing power, rather I load for accuracy and reliability. All other considerations are secondary. Thus the answer to the question you pose is:

"Mr. Attorney, no! I did no such thing. I used published data to load safe ammunition that was reliable and accurate in my firearm."

Are you trying to suggest that it is possible to argue logic in a rational manner with an attorney?

On a serious note I recall Ayoob wrote about a case where a DA argued that the shooter was criminally liable because he didn't fire a warning shot before shooting the bg...
