Three peace activists — including an 82-year-old nun — infiltrated the highest-security area of the Y-12 nuclear weapons plant in a predawn protest today, reportedly evading guards and cutting through three or four fences in order to spray-paint messages, hang banners and pour human blood at the site where warhead parts are manufactured and the nation's stockpile of bomb-grade uranium is stored.
If an 82-yr-old NUN can infiltrate the highest security area of the Oak Ridge facility, ya' think the average garden-variety terrorist can't?????? Peoples' heads should roll for this.
This is like walking into Oppenheimer's lab during the Manhattan project. This is unprecedented security breach. I can't overstate enough how serious that was.
If unarmed protesters dressed in dark clothing could reach the nuclear plant's core during the cover of dark, it raised questions about the plant's security against more menacing intruders.

Hmmmm secure it the way you secured the borders ...
no wait ...
Oh well, the OTMs will welcome this news.

I seem to recall that nuclear facilities were "Deadly Force Authorized" facilities. Is this no longer the case?

A sign should be enough to keep criminals out ... you know ... Why didn't they have a sign criminals would obey?
Like a gun free zone sign works.
They could put up a "Please don't invade our nuclear weapons plant" sign.
We probably should put up more signs on the border too, ...

Perhaps we should outlaw geriatric Nuns?

They didn't stop them because they were "peace protesters"...bad form to stop them, you know. Right out of Alinsky's playbook...if you don't do anything to them, they win...if you do something to them, they win...BECAUSE OF THE MEDIA/PRESS. I'm sure if some "deranged" Marine veteran of the desert wars came in singing "Dixie" and waving a Tea Party sign, they'd be able to shoot him on sight. The press would go on and on about how a serious "terrorist threat" had been stopped by the "brave" first responders at the plant, blah, blah, blah...

These types of incidents unfortunately do not garner much attention from the bishops. In all likelihood the nun is about as much associated with any religious order and practicing her vows as is Nancy Pelosi or other "catholic" politician lobbying for planned parenthood while espousing a belief in catholic teaching.
This is not an attempt to drift the thread.

This would not happen if we just closed all of the nuke power plants. Seems there is not a lot of security needed for wind or solar power plants. /sarcasm off

Not a power plant. Nuclear weapons.
Howsomever I do appreciate the sarcasm directed at wind/solar. Nicely played.

Yep, just need somebody to clean up the dead birds occasionally and to make sure the Gas fired back up Generator for the days when there is no wind is topped off .
