"Firearms Not Permitted on Premises" sign
Wife and I recently moved to New Braunfels and we went to a the Marketplace movie theatre. The have signs posted on all the entrances that simply say "No Firearms Allowed on Premises". The signs are in 4" white block letters. There is no reference to 30.06 at all.
I carried right past it and watched the movie, but I was curious if businesses who post non-specific signs like that can actually restrict a licensed CHL holder from entering while carrying.

No. They would have to tell you that they do not allow firearms or if they somehow found out you had one ask you to leave.0m3n wrote:Wife and I recently moved to New Braunfels and we went to a the Marketplace movie theatre. Not many central Texas hill country smaller town businesses really desire to post invitations to criminals by telling law abiding citizens that they'll make the place as safe as Luby's in Killeen was for criminals, so you'll see signs such as that or other "gun-buster" signs to make out-of-towner snow-birds "feel safe" while they are in the bank or what-not.
I had to drive near to the big Liberal Democrat city Austin to see a real 30.06 sign

With regard to handguns, a sign like that has the same meaning for a licensed CHL holder, an out of town LEO on vacation with his family, and a local police officer on duty in uniform.0m3n wrote:Wife and I recently moved to New Braunfels and we went to a the Marketplace movie theatre. Your instructor should have covered this in detail, did he? It is very clear, only 1 sign matters to a CHL.0m3n wrote:Wife and I recently moved to New Braunfels and we went to a the Marketplace movie theatre. Well, two signs. The 30.06 and the 51% signs.rm9792 wrote:Your instructor should have covered this in detail, did he? Re: "Firearms Not Permitted on Premises" sign
I just closed a business account at Bank of the West for unrelated reasons, but I was struck by something......
When I first opened the account, the bank president asked me for two forms of ID. I gave her my TDL and CHL. She didn't bat an eye, and I said that I hoped it didn't freak her out, she laughed and said heck no, everybody out to have one. So on Friday when I walked into a local branch near my house and closed the account, I noticed a painted sign on the door which I had never seen before. I don't remember the exact wording, but it said something like this:

Obviously, it was not a compliant 30.06 sign, and I ignored it and walked right in. I just thought it was an interesting shift in policy, particularly since there were no such signs at the main branch in Grapevine back when I set up the account a couple of years ago."No Beretta 92 pistols" sticker
No firearms allowed inside unless you are a law enforcement officer or have previously registered your weapon with the bank management. (emphasis mine)

$The size of the sign does matter.$...The Annoyed Man wrote:I just closed a business account at Bank of the West for unrelated reasons, but I was struck by something......

And The Federal signs! I would not attempt to try to carry in those Federal Buildings Just list a couple as an example, Social Security office, and National Forests offices. They don't have to Be F.B.I. offices or Federal courts.
