License issued today!

Post by Firearm »

This is my first post even though I've been reading this forum regularly for over six months. I gotta say I've learned so much here that the CHL class was really just a formality! This is the real class.

DPS seems to really have their act together lately getting these licenses cranked out. I had settled in for a 60 day wait, and today - day 35 - status changed to "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active"!!! Plastic should be here within days.

CHL class - Feb. 10
Application mailed - Feb. 13
DPS received - Feb. 15
PIN issued - Mar. 7
License issued - Mar. 22

Now that you mention it, that's a good point. Any possible question you have can be answered several times over.

I'm assuming you did an online app. I sent mine off on 03/07 and still don't have any way of checking the status of mine. Most people who don't do the online app are just getting their PIN around 30 days after they sent theirs off. I called to check the status of mine over the phone, and they said not to even bother until 3 weeks after I sent it in, because that's how long it takes them to even get it into the system.

It would be awful nice to get mine after 35 days (April 10th), but my guess is that it'll be more like 60 days (May 5th). I've dealt with too many government bureaucracies to believe that they'll take any less time than the maximum (or longer) for me.

Sorry, don't mean to be a naysayer, but there's always been the fluke 30-something day turnaround licenses that go out, while others languish for 80 days or more with no explanation. If they really are stepping it up, great - it will be interesting to see if the trend continues.

Oh, and congratulations!

Firearm..

Congratulations!

:cheers2:

NcongruNt....

35 to 45 days seems to be the average recently. I got mine in 45 days in spite of a mistake on my part that resulted in a 7-10 day delay.

Think Positive!

I agree with this statement. I have also learned more from the folks here than I ever learned at the CHL classes.
