Used my batman license today
Ok, not really, just thought it was a cool title. Anyways, over the last few months I have noticed several people on motorcycles open carraying. Is that legal on a bike?

Not by Law. Only by Policy of their Department.

Oh, I thought you were acting a personal servant to a retired British general.

Re: Used my batman license today
is it possible they are carrying OWB and their shirt is blowing up as they ride? probably not entirely legal, but we don't have a 'flashing' law.

Defenittly not the shirt blowing up at least in the 2 instances I remeber the most. They were both tucked in shirts and OWB holsters. And both 1911's. One was exactlly the one I want. Wonder if I see him again if he will just give it to me.

Could have been traveling. Not defined in law, but generally precedent holds that if you're crossing a county line on a journey you don't make of at least weekly frequency, you're traveling.

Outdated info - the traveling text was re-written year sago and more clearly defined. Still has to be concealed though.jordanmills wrote:Could have been traveling. Most departments don't allow open carry while off duty. Even those in CID must wear their badge/gun and under a sport jacket provided they are not in uniform. If you think about it, how often have you ever seen anyone open carrying in Texas, without a badge?...never. Otherwise he might just get a CHL/LEO pistol shoved in his face.
I like to keep this handy... for close encounters.

I've only seen it rarely, but I have seen plainclothes LE open carrying. Last time was in the middle of a crowded mall no less, with just a badge on his belt. Nobody else noticed or if they did nobody freaked out about it.harrycallahan wrote:Most departments don't allow open carry while off duty.
