Not enough information on his alleged non-compliance, yet.

In the heat of the moment, sometimes police officers, each having a distinct angle on the situation, give contradictory orders, talk over each other, garble their words, et cetera. I've witnessed that.

"Don't move!" conflicts with "Put your hands up!" and "Drop it!"for example.

In a crowded theater there may also have been some question of whether they were talking to him specifically. Multiple officers might be giving different instructions to different people, as well. "Who? Me?" is a normal reaction when hearing shouted commands and when you don't consider yourself a perpetrator.
Again, not enough information yet.
The sooner I get behind, the more time I have to catch up.

I understand that. My question was rooted in the idea of whether or not it was a wise decision if he was in fact open carrying. I'm all for the exercising of rights but unfortunately, the sheeple scare easily these days. Ergo, the California open carry movement has drawn enough attention to itself that open carry is now illegal in California.

With that, my apologies for starting another open carry war.

They said he continued to sit there and talk on his cell. Maybe it was about 2 seconds of him saying "Gotta go, bye" but to the LEOs, a million years passed, subjectively...MWAG call, dark theater, nervous LEOs...time is a funny thing under stress...and whose story would the reporter get? Likely the LEOs...add that into what you say about potentially conflicting orders...yeah, it could be a great story for a newspaper and not a very good one for that municipality once the whole thing is said and done.

I hope he gets a good pay day out of this.

He was breaking no laws. Connecticut issues a license to carry, similar to Tennessee and Indiana, not a concealed handgun license.

According to the news article, everyone else in the theatre was able to comply with the LEO orders. It was apparently enough for the LEO's at the scene to feel a charge was adequate. Unless there is video or witness testimony, there will not be any new information.

I find it extremely ironic that in many states that are barely lukewarm in observing 2A rights,
that open carry is allowed!

Connecticut is one of those states. Cali used to be one of those states.

Some time ago I used to think that open carry would be great. But I realize that by carrying concealed,
all of us go about our business easily, never worrying about meeting LEO's in a confrontation, as long as our
carry method ensures concealment.

I think there is far too little information to make any sort of judgement on Mr. Hwang's actions. I also am concerned if someone expects me to give up any portion of a right to make someone else comfortable. Anti-gunners included. However, I look at this in a compltely different light. It's unknown exactly what was commanded by the PO's to the 12 movie goers and what exchange was had with Mr. Hwang, but we do know they were told by police at gunpoint to put their hands over their heads and exit.

We have police to converging on groups of law abiding citizens, including Mr. Hwang, marching them out of a building at gun point and arresting one of them. And for what? Failure to comply. Because the mayor saying just because it's legal doesn't make it right?

So. Here's my concern. Law abiding, tax paying, do the right thing citizens, can be herded like this when we allow someone to convince us it's for the best because there's a heightened level of fear due to circumstances. The Japanese in America were law abiding, tax paying do the right thing citizens, so they complied. The Jews in Germany were good citizens so they complied. But remember they slowly gave in, little by little, having their rights diminished until there were marched at gunpoint into box cars.

In defense of the officer's they weren't going to arrest Mr Hwang. They were commanded to do so by the police who, by the way, stated guns need to be registered. Feeling comfortable anyone?
