the 2009 conviction rates for CHL holders has some good reading and some concerns
total statewide convictions
Total Offenses 65,561 those that held a CHL 101 or 0.1541%

some of the crimes CHL folks perpetrated were imo interesting
SEXUAL ASSAULT CHILD 1,350 CHL holders had 13 inexcusable
DEADLY CONDUCT 1,510 CHL Holders had 19
CARRYING WEAPON 2,523 CHL Holders had 9, this is carrying illegally, not concealed,

As a group its easy to see we as CHL holders are proven again to be mostly good guys and gals
some of the crimes are plain weird.

Unfortunately, what it goes to show you is even though it is a very small amount, a CHL does not always prove that you are a good guy/gal. However, that can be said of anything, like going to church, being a preacher, a teacher, a cop, a doctor, a politician... Oh wait, strike that last one.

I wonder what the wrongful conviction rate is (what percentage of people are convicted of a crime but are later proven innocent)? I bet it is greater than 0.1541%.

The one I find strange is "UNL CARRY HANDGUN LIC HOLDER", which I assume means unlawful carrying of a handgun by a license holder. There are 23 total convictions, and yet only 15 of those are by a CHL holder.

How can the other eight people convicted of unlawful carrying of a handgun by a license holder not be CHL holders? Another state license maybe?

As a Pastor for 38yrs now I would like to have the comparrison on Preachers vs CHLs. I tell my students straight up I believe CHLs have a lower arrest & conviction rate than preachers. Dont know if that one has even been figured.
