Re: New Shinies!
Again, this is a load progression. This is tuning a load to my gun by running various loads through it to see where the "sweet spot" is. This is proper loading for a rifle.Richardc wrote:SEXY....What i you recipe?

Well...They sure look "Purty"..!!!APynckel wrote:Load progression for the new Savage 10fcp le. All seated "jammed" into the lands via O-give using Varget and CCI LR primers with 175gr SMK's.
I know of a lot of people who reload that would say that a nice shiny round is not needed or does it help ANY..!!
They are WRONG...It helps me in that I am proud to make them work well in MY gun and they look better than factory rounds.!!

I like to take my time, which I have plenty of these dayZ. I'm in no race to make ammo, I would rather not have my gun ruined or my fingers either.
Keep up the good work.
Don
Ps...I use the same labels sometimes, blue painters tape. Comes off easily and stays when you want it to.
But it's not all that cheap. I think Harbor Freight has some cheap stuff that comes in colors too. I'll look for it next trip.
Re: New Shinies!
Out of curiosity, what does shooting one round for each powder weight tell you? Would you not want to to be shooting groups of each weight - to give you a better statistical picture of performance?APynckel wrote:Load progression for the new Savage 10fcp le. I am about to purchase a single stage press to start loading .308 myself, so it is an honest question for learning purposes, not "questioning" your methods.
Thanks!
Re: New Shinies!
It tells you what load ranges "agree" with the harmonics of the barrel. Then you further refine the loads and make groupings to determine which of those loads is most precise.cyphur wrote: Out of curiosity, what does shooting one round for each powder weight tell you? There are some great threads over at snipers hide reloading forum regarding loading for a bolt action precision shooter.

Well after a sight in with the new nightforce BR 12-42x56, they all grouped in a 3" group :-\
