:headscratch Then why are they segregating those who have CHLs from those who don't? Do students who hold CDLs, pilot's licenses, or motorcycle licenses get their own dorm, too? And where whould you live if you had all of them?

http://content.usatoday.com/communities ... -permits/1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Sentences rearranged for clarity in how I read it
Those who live off the main campus must store their weapon in a safe within their home..

In Boulder, students who want to carry their gun must live in the family-housing units downtown, while those in Colorado Springs will have to live in upperclassmen dorms.

In all other dorms, guns will be banned, The Post reports, quoting university officials.

"Residence hall students may still store weapons at the University of Colorado Police Department on campus, which is open and available for drop-off and pickup of weapons, 24 hours a day, seven days a week," CU-Boulder says.
http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_21332 ... ry-permits" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The university said Thursday that both campuses will establish a residential area for students over the age of 21 with permits. In all other dormitories, guns will be banned, the new policy states.

"The main dorms on the main campus will not allow any concealed-carry weapons," CU-Boulder spokesman Bronson Hilliard said.
Now the policy seems a bit crazy with "Those who live off the main campus must store their weapon in a safe within their home.." If I own my own home, a school's "policy" mandates that ... I have to now take all my valuable jars of peanut butter out of my safe to make room to store guns now? What if I need a gun in the middle of the night, does the safe have to be locked, or can the door be open? Will the school indemnify me against losses to peanut butter thieves if I can't get to my gun in time??

Really, I think the first article misstated it, the second article says "Students on both campuses living in housing designated for weapons must keep their guns in a safe in their unit when the firearm is not on their person, officials said. "

Apparently someone doesn't know the difference in "off" and "on" those are the people I wouldn't trust around a "bang switch"

Did you see the poll?
The wording is more "evenly distributed Bias" than past polls pushing one position.

Post Poll - Sporting Guns

In light of the University of Colorado banning guns at ticketed events on its Boulder and Colorado Springs campuses, should people with concealed-carry permits be allowed to bring weapons to sporting events?
Total Votes = 1649

Yes. Concealed carry reduces the chance of a public shooting like the one at an Aurora movie theater.

No. The last thing that's needed in a crowd of 50,000 screaming fans is a bunch of guns.

Maybe. It depends on whether alcohol is sold at the venue.

Might be better, guaranteeing that everyone is over 21 in your dorm, I had a less mature room mate wanting to do TV and Pacman 24/7 while I tried to study.

carry whenever and wherever possible. you never know when you'll need it. its not being paranoid, its being prepared.

Anyone care to guess which dorm will have the lowest level of crime on campus?

:mrgreen: the game had just come out, but he also played pong :lol: I took a ten year vacation from college and got that roommate after I had worked, bought a house and decided to go back to school, and rented a room to a guy who had never lived away from his parents

Like I used to tell people 20-something years ago on the computer when they asked "A/S/L?" (age/gender/location), I am ___ I look 30 and feel 20 and act 12 ... take an average ... :mrgreen:

The university has been working on the policy since March, when the Colorado Supreme Court upheld an appeals-court ruling that struck down CU's gun ban. The court said the Board of Regents overstepped its authority by refusing to allow permitted concealed weapons on campuses, in leased buildings and in any area under the control of university police, officials said.
...
Those with a permit may still live in dorms on both campuses but may not have weapons in their possession in those general living quarters, officials said.

So, it's illegal for CU to have a policy that their campus buildings are off limits for CCW, but certain dorms are off limits? :confused5
The Colorado Springs campus will allow those with a permit who want a gun in their possession to live in upperclassman dorms, officials said.
"We have very few individual units, so those who wish to have the concealed carry must have permission from their roommate," said Tom Hutton, spokesman for UCCS.
He went on to say that those students who wish to express their political views or religious beliefs must also request the permission of their roommate. /sarcasm
