Its just not feasible. There are only a few routes in the US that make sense for high speed rail service. I'm convinced that DFW-Houston isn't one of them. One of the problems is that you're pandering to a very niche market here. DC to New York/Boston has proven to be (somewhat) of a success for high speed rail, but you're dealing with a different mentality and reality surround mass transit up there. Not only that, but acquiring right-of-way for this new rail line is going to be a virtual nightmare. I'll be the first to stand up and say I wish we had passenger rail service similar to what I've ridden on in Europe, but I just don't see it happening here in the US. Things are too spread out, whereas most European cities are tightly packed vertical cities, most major US cities are more horizontal. You take a train into Paris, walk out of the station and get move about the city using other means of mass transit. Try that in Phoenix or Oklahoma City for example.
