Guvment preparing for civil unrest?

Re: Guvment preparing for civil unrest?
Maybe these large ammo purchases are connected to the March 16th executive order that allows the gov to take over anything and everything privately owned and declare martial law. Would need lots of ammo to pull that one off.

From SS:
http://cnsnews.com/news/article/social- ... nt-bulletsThe SSA’s Office of the Inspector General’s said it posted a new blog on the agency’s website, “Beyond the Numbers,” “as we strive to be a transparent and accountable government organization for all of our stakeholders.
“With those goals in mind, we thought it would be appropriate to address recent media reports regarding the organization’s purchase of ammunition for our special agents’ duty weapons,” the blog post states.
The blog states that the SSA has 295 special agents who work in 66 offices across the United States.
“These investigators have full law enforcement authority, including executing search warrants and making arrests,” the blog post states. “Our investigators are similar to your State or local police officers.
“They use traditional investigative techniques, and they are armed when on official duty,” the blog post states.

I don't think it would be the senior population they have to worry about (thought I know some 86 yr olds happily knitting in their rocking chair with a glock under their yarn). I would be more concerned about the seniors with caring families. If mom and dad suddenly don't have any money coming in for medical and groceries and home/retirement center, someone has to pick up the slack. People are angry already about the inflated prices of so many things or out of work themselves. Budgets and calm mind can only be stretched so far before they explode. The Annoyed Man wrote:Who? Fox News has a story here:

Two things worth commenting on:
1. My BIL is a LEO and switched to all .357 SIG a few years ago because of the "superior ballistics".
He'd formerly been a .40 (primary) and 9mm (BUG) guy (his department doesn't allow .45 ACP). He's not a gun nerd like many here, so I asked what made him change, and he said he'd been a report / magazine study circulating in the LEO communities that has a lot of them convinced that the .357 SIG is far superior. I wonder if it's a fad like the 10mm craze or if there's something to it. He's a Glock guy because of the same influences.

Re: Guvment preparing for civil unrest?
I didn't realize the SSA had 300 agents. When you look at it that way... that's less than 600 rounds each per year. I guess the real question is why don't they buy enough ammo to actually train effectively and maintain proficiency?
Same for the NOAA agents.
(Yes, I know that there are lots of LEOs who train regularly and are crazy proficient, and there are CHLs who only shoot when it is time for a renewal class... but if the opposition can make sweeping generalizations based on individual cases, I figure I can too!)
Same for the NOAA agents.
Heck, I go through 600 rounds every two months just practicing on my own... not counting training classes where round counts are much higher. People worry about CHLs because "they aren't trained like law enforcement" - heck, I say you should worry about LEOs because they aren't trained like CHLs!According to NOAA, the specialized agents are supposed to have 200 rounds in their "duty bag," and qualification and training requires another 500-600 rounds per agent.

Re: Guvment preparing for civil unrest?
The problem isn't that agents need ammunition to train with, but that the Social Security has so many agents and that the NOAA folks have them at all. Why can't they just have contracts for private security for their facilities, seriously?

I agree that we have way too many different agencies with LEO powers, but the Social Security agents aren't guarding offices, they're out in the field investigating SS fraud cases.Heartland Patriot wrote:The problem isn't that agents need ammunition to train with, but that the Social Security has so many agents and that the NOAA folks have them at all. I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

That works for me. As I said, there are too many different Fed LEO organizations. But Heartland Patriot had mentioned contracted security to guard facilities. I was just pointing out that social security agents don't guard facilities, they investigate crime.anygunanywhere wrote:Ummm, shouldn't that be the responsibiity of the FBI?74novaman wrote:I agree that we have way too many different agencies with LEO powers, but the Social Security agents aren't guarding offices, they're out in the field investigating SS fraud cases.Heartland Patriot wrote:The problem isn't that agents need ammunition to train with, but that the Social Security has so many agents and that the NOAA folks have them at all. Re: Guvment preparing for civil unrest?
So they need 295 actual armed agents? These agents are actually out and about on a daily basis doing a "cuff 'em and stuff 'em" on tax cheats? They must be pretty lousy at their jobs it would seem...they let little Timmy Geithner get away...74novaman wrote:I agree that we have way too many different agencies with LEO powers, but the Social Security agents aren't guarding offices, they're out in the field investigating SS fraud cases.Heartland Patriot wrote:The problem isn't that agents need ammunition to train with, but that the Social Security has so many agents and that the NOAA folks have them at all.
