Ah, c'mon, you know your hooked to IDPA now!

JLaw
JLaw,

Not yet hooked on IDPA. This was my 3rd IDPA match so I felt compiled to become an IDPA member (which I did at ~2AM Saturday), but I'm not sure if IDPA hits the spot for me.

I've recently invested a bunch in NRA smallbore silhouette equipment and have been practicing the .22LR pistol and rifle exclusively since Jan. Now this is a very addictive sport, you tend to get some pins, awards, etc. after each match in the beginning. With smallbore, almost everybody can afford the right equipmnt. And there's no reloading in .22LR so the field is level for reloader and non-reloaders.

I do want to come back to PSC IDPA one more time to "correct" my score

Could someone fill me in?

Next match is when? What to bring? Where? Training beforehand?

I've never been to an IDPA event so I'd be very interested to learn more.

[quote="SRVA"]What a great match at PSC today. with 10 scenarios and 62 shooters it felt more like a "regional match."

I won't tell any tales on anyone in the squad. We made an agreement early that it was going to be a Las Vegas day. What happened there, stayed there. However, if anyone wants to tell on themselves, this is the place. Weigh in below.

One thing for certain, I know this will not be the last time we all squad together.

Steve, as you know I SO'd stage 5&6.

I can report that out of 62 shooters there was not one "Grouch" in the bunch. It was a pleasure to work with such a great group of people.

Good attitude, regardless of skill level is appreciated by all SO's.

It seemed that everyone learned a little and enjoyed the stages.
No one left with more holes in their body than they came with.

Mission accomplished.

Just to be REALLY clear, I'm sure GH meant that PSC has their official IDPA match on the 4th Saturday of each month.

The match this Saturday that Steve was refering to is a practice Match + Classifier. Anyone in Greater Houston Area who wants to shoot their annual classifier is truly welcome. Heck anyone who wants to shoot is welcome.
Reasonable gun control is hitting your target with the first shot.

Thanks, CaptDave for catching my mistake. I've been so busy I don't even know what day this is.

I used my mystic moderator powers to erase all traces of my mistake.

I'll see you all April 28th for the fourth Saturday match at PSC.

hehe, yeah, I caught that 4th saturday deal.

I'm trying to clear up this saturday if at all possible, but I'm only really lacking a holster. Mine is small of the back :(

I'm an odd duck too, left handed, sig P228. It has to be concealable too correct? Any recommendations for an acceptable holster that I could attain by saturday if necessary that won't clean out my bank account? Remember, college student :)

I'm really late posting a reply about the PSC match because it seems I have to stop what I'm doing every few seconds for a tap-rack drill. And on a PC, that means a reboot. ;-)

Of the shooting, that's about all I remember. Tap-Rack. It felt like I had multiple failures-to-feed on every stage but 3, 4, and 10, and that I threw more unspent cartridges out of the chamber than ones I had fired.

Tap-Rack. TAP-Rack.

And of course, as soon as I have to do a clearance I forget all niceties like the CoF instructions, how many rounds I have left, where my magazines are...what day it is, what my name is...

TAP-Rack.

But, boy, what a huge turnout, and what a blast. It was great meeting so many folks from the Forum I hadn't a chance to shake hands with before, and seeing some I had. The best shooting news of the day for me was that on stage 6 (even though I went 11 down) I didn't poke a hole in the hostage/swinger...and I just knew I was going to pop him in the head trying to fire around him. Oh, and I learned what the Prone-Pilates firing position is.

TAP-TAP-Rack.

Jason said he could positively cure my failure-to-feed problems. All I had to do was buy a Glo--

TAP-Rack. TAP-TAP-Rack. <mumble, mumble> TAP-TAP-Rack....

That thing had you so flustered.....you don't even have to go buy one. Just let me know and I will bring an extra! :smilelol5:

I hate to see a man in such pain. It was great to meet you.....I had a wonderful time.

FWIW- My gun locked up twice on me....ammo related, but it was still two malfunctions!

Simplest/cheapest would be one of the Uncle Mike's Nylon belt holsters. LAST choice I would make but my son used one for several month's until he could afford Comp-tac. I suggested he duct tape it to his belt to increase stability during draw but that wasn't cool. You can conceal any owb holster by picking a long enough shirt for cover, it just has to be concealed when you hold your arms straight out to the sides (crucifix position)
