:iagree: I am sad to hear this news. I agree that he was a true American hero. He was also a gentleman and positive role model for many young Americans growing up in the 60s and 70s. He was very dignified and didn't use his fame and good fortune merely to make money, like so many others. :patriot:

What a stand up guy. RIP Mr. Armstrong.

I was born on 7/20/69. Because of this, I have always had a natural gravitation to the space program and Mr. Armstrong. I really did idolize him somewhat in my youth. When I heard this news today, I feel as if a small part of me died too!

What a great day to be born!
On that date I was in San Francisco, in a house in the Haight Ashbury of all places, where I watched the moon landing. :patriot:

My father worked in the defense/aerospace business so I had a natural gravitation to the space program.
On and off, I worked in the aerospace business for 18 years.

What better way to pay tribute to the first human to ever set foot on another celestial body than to capture a photo of Dear Leader pondering the crescent (coincidence?) moon?

How incredibly insincere to post a photo taken BEFORE Mr. Armstrong died and insinuate that Dear Leader was pondering Mr. Armstrong when the photo was taken. Mr. Armstrong died on Saturday, when the moon was waxing past 1/4, not crescent. LINK

And... Why aren't flags at half staff?
Oh yes, that privledge is reserved for political activists only. I forgot. :mad5

The above image is a snapshot I just took of this page: LINK. Careful clicking the link, it's the official Obama Biden tumbler page.
I'm betting the image changes pretty soon, so, I wanted to capture the original page in all its narcissistic glory.

My apologies for politicizing this thread. Please delete this post if anyone feels it's inappropriate.

Mr. Armstrong, Sir.
You have been an inspiration to me since I was a little boy.
Godspeed to you on your final journey home.

EDIT: Flags announcement made today.

Yes flags at half staff would only be fitting. You didn't politicize it first, someone else did. I'm not offended by your post.

RIP Neil. You were a great pilot, even before you went to the moon. :patriot:

Thanks, interesting.

Although, I gotta say I wasn't too impressed with how Neil Armstrong's son dressed for his father's funeral.

Mrs. Armstrong is dressed to much the same level. I'd imagine that if she's ok with it, they couldn't be too far off of what Mr. Armstrong would've wanted.
