GOP set to OK most pro-gun platform eve

Post by tomneal »

This could be nice:

http://washingtonexaminer.com/gop-set-t ... DvN-cGPWdK
TAMPA, Fla. - Delegates to the Republican National Convention on Tuesday will approve the most pro-gun platform ever, staking out support for national concealed carry reciprocity and opposing domestic restrictions on ammunition and United Nations interference in gun sales.

"It's probably the most supportive and detailed on Second Amendment issues ever," said a gun-rights advocate who attended the GOP platform committee meetings last week.

Besides giving the National Rifle Association and other Second Amendment groups victories on their issues, the platform is also a slap at several Obama initiatives, including the Fast & Furious scandal, his administration's consideration of a ban on high-capacity bullet magazines and talk of reviving the assault weapons ban and negotiations in the United Nations over a treaty to regulate small arms sales.

I'm still a little wary of national reciprocity (Think of the Firearms Owner Protection Act of 86. Overall a good bill, but the Hughes amendment snuck in there :banghead: ) but I'm glad they're publicly stating their 2nd Amendment support.

:iagree:
I'd be happier if they just disband the BATFE and repeal all idiotic laws infringing on people's rights which do nothing to prevent crime.
Barrel no longer than XX inches ... sheesh
Shotgun with 18.5 inches is good, 17.75 inches and you're a felon and you and your dog must be shot...if you didn't pay $200.00 remember, metal contracts on cold winter days and expands with heat after firing or in Summer...

If the Republicans gain the White House, maybe they can set the District of Columbia free of
anti-gunner policies.

DC apparently mirrors Cali's "approved gun list".

One of the idiocies of this policy is that an all-black gun may be OK to own,
but if you have the exact same model with a stainless slide it's NOT OK to own. Sheesh - Idiots.

What's with the whole bayonet lug thing? Seriously? That is the dangerous part of my M4 and why it would be illegal? Is that their logic? That I could mount a knife longer than 5.25 inches on my rifle?

The whole assault weapons ban wasn't about functionality, just "scary features".

Frankly, in some ways I think the AWB was the greatest thing that could have happened to Evil Black Rifle ownership. Since they tried to ban them in the past, everyone and their dog is interested it at least owning one AR or AK now, whether they do anything more than hunt twice a year or not.

The law was written by someone who really doesn't know anything about firearms, except that a bayonet lug is scary........to them.

Interesting that it's called the most "pro-gun" platform. For so many other areas, the GOP's position is considered "anti-.." In this case, I'd like to see the headline be the GOP's platform to include the strongest "anti-2nd Amendment infringment" position...or something like that.
