'Evening Fellas,

So, I have been a big fan of Talon Grips for Glocks. They work fantastic, they stay put, they are comfortable. I like the rubberized texture, not the abrasive sandpaper type... and I am having a heck of a time finding any other company that sells this type of product. Talon is temporarily shut down... have been for about a month. I need something for the G17 stat, the 4th gen stippling is just too abrasive.

I prefer stick on, not the bicycle tube or pearce wrap around jobbers. Does anyone here have any experience with any company that they would recommend?

I decided to go check out their stuff and it sounds like there might have been a death. Anyone know anything about their delay?

C-Dub, this is the email I receive this afternoon when i emailed asking about the status of their shipments/ordering. I can wait till Tuesday, but I am looking at other options.

We are working through an unexpected death in the Talon family and are not taking orders at this time. We are hoping to be up and running again on Tuesday. I think the best way to order at that time is to resubmit your order through the website since it will be accepting payment directly.

And for the record, I HIGHLY recommend their rubber texture grips. They really are the bees-knees. They made a world of difference on my G30.

They do look and sound impressive. For that price, they might be worth giving a try. I have been thinking about what to do during the summer if my hands are sweaty during a match. I saw a nice pair of sports gloves with a tacky kind of rubber like gripping area that I was thinking about at Academy. I didn't have time or I would have taken the gloves over to the gun counter to try them out. However, one of these Talon grips might solve that problem without the gloves.

Gloves are just hot. They are effective, but hot. Stumbling through loading procedures is a bit more difficult with the gloves. The grips save you that trouble.

As far as the price, I am not going to complain either. The first set I bought at something like $9... then a set for $11... they are $14.99 now, but I will still pay that price happily. I don't mind paying for a good product

If you go the glove route, I can recommend Mechanix gloves. I wore those things through every single one of my deployments, they rock. They are still hot, but breathable. And those things are certainly durable.

If you like them that much, what's the hurry? I haven't even seen one of these before and you've nearly got me convinced to order one and that it will be worth the wait.

I trust Talon Grips. I love them. They are comfortable. But, i'm willing to try other products and spend my money elsewhere in the gun community when they come recommended.

Update:

Apparently there is no back-order. I ordered mine yesterday and got an email a few minutes ago that the grips have shipped. Looks like they are back in biz.

I installed my talon grips over the weekend on my Shield 9mm (the grips sat on my desk for weeks begging to be installed). I got the rubberized version and am very happy with them. One added bonus is the extended mag tape should prevent the "spacer" from riding up the magazine while pocket carrying. Looking forward to getting it to the range in the near future...
