How do they stop the mice and other rodents from leaving?WildBill wrote:A home in The Woodlands remained under quarantine on Saturday as health officials wait for test results to confirm the presence of the deadly rodent-borne hantavirus.

Ahem, my terriers have caught way more mice and rats than all the cats I've owned.WildBill wrote:A perimeter of Killer Cats!tacticool wrote:How do they stop the mice and other rodents from leaving?WildBill wrote:A home in The Woodlands remained under quarantine on Saturday as health officials wait for test results to confirm the presence of the deadly rodent-borne hantavirus.

Don't feed the cats so much.MoJo wrote:Ahem, my terriers have caught way more mice and rats than all the cats I've owned.WildBill wrote:A perimeter of Killer Cats!tacticool wrote:How do they stop the mice and other rodents from leaving?WildBill wrote:A home in The Woodlands remained under quarantine on Saturday as health officials wait for test results to confirm the presence of the deadly rodent-borne hantavirus.
Hmm... I meant that as a joke, but now I'm wondering if there's a food level that's high enough to keep a house cat healthy, but low enough that they'll still hunt rodents.

I think it depends on the cat. I have a cat that loves to stalk and hunt no matter how much she is fed.Dave2 wrote:Don't feed the cats so much.MoJo wrote:Ahem, my terriers have caught way more mice and rats than all the cats I've owned.WildBill wrote:A perimeter of Killer Cats!tacticool wrote:How do they stop the mice and other rodents from leaving?WildBill wrote:A home in The Woodlands remained under quarantine on Saturday as health officials wait for test results to confirm the presence of the deadly rodent-borne hantavirus.

Yeah, I guess the cat's personality would kinda have to play a large role. We adopted a stray once who could clearly catch at least insects or something since she hadn't starved to death, but for the first few years she'd get spooked if she caught me or my dad just looking at her. I can't imagine that cat really hunting anything (she would vigorously defend her food bowl from the dog, though).WildBill wrote:I think it depends on the cat.
