(Reuters) - Crude oil should be at least $150 per barrel, Iran's oil minister was quoted as saying on Sunday, and the sanctions-hit country's OPEC governor said current oil prices were not high enough to threaten the world economy.

Iranian oil minister Rostam Qasemi said on Sunday crude oil ought to be at least $150 per barrel, the Iranian Students' News Agency (ISNA) reported.

The current prices are not high enough to threaten the world economy, so let's raise them to that point? So Iran not only has sent troops to Syria (Iran's Revolutionary Guards commander says its troops in Syria), they are threatening Israel with obliteration, they are developing nukes, they have ambitions in Iran, and when they succeed in all of this—which they will because the UN is an organization of cowards, moral cripples, and outright thugs (like Iran)— Wahabis and Sunnis and Sufis can all say goodbye to their freedom to practice their own brand of Islam. Iran is threatening to close off the world's oil supply causing a global armada to be headed there to prevent that (Armada of British naval power massing in the Gulf as Israel prepares an Iran strike). There can be no doubt that Iran is making their play to be THE regional power. IF they succeed, the world will become a vastly different place than it is now, including right here at home. And short of WWIII, they WILL succeed.

Due to the shortsightedness of successive administrations, we are not prepared. Times are going to get very rough.

BUT, all the whiny "green nuts" and the NIMBYs (Not In My Back Yard) would have to be ignored for that to happen...and we all know how IGNORANT and/or brainwashed so much of our population is unfortunately. Saddam Hussein, bless his heart, kept order in his part of the world. If the U.S. had minded its own business, Iran would not be a problem. Saddam would have handled the matter in his own way and the world would be a safer place today.

We are neither the world police nor are we the champions of the oppressed in far off lands. We have enough problems of our own on the home front.

According to our own government, we have enough oil and gas reserves here in America to last us for at least another 200 years. The problem is our corrupt politicians will not allow us to harvest it. If we had leaders with courage, they would ignore the greens and drill. Our economy would boom, and our security would be immensely improved.

Some batty guy ruling our country who has bats in his belfry stopped us from having an oil pipeline. Now if we don't have a Hurricane to raise prices, we can have unrest in the Middle East to raise prices. If oil prices go high enough, we'll have to buy those Obama cars you plug in and rent 7 motel rooms with charging stations between Houston and Lubbock. If you work in Houston and live in Cleveland, you could only go to work every 3rd day since you'd be charging the car half way the others. Since we'd HAVE TO get motels overnight to recharge the cars, in the Summer. the CHL is helpful at the motels more than the "Traveling" exemption and MPA when you want to lounge around the pool in a Speedo; just remember concealed is concealed. And remember to use a sun screen with a high SPF, not bacon grease, nor crude oil..

There is no doubt that he bears his share of the guilt, but democrat AND republican presidents have bowed down and kissed the coattails of the environmental lobby. I am 100% capitalist and believe that capitalism is the greatest engine for human freedom ever devised; but I also think that responsible capitalism does make an effort to not pollute the water we drink, the air we breathe, and the soil we grow our food in. However, the environmental lobby has become a many-headed hydra that seeks to control the minutest human behaviors, and they do it in ways that are damaging to the very economic engine that makes their activism possible under the banner of human liberty. Of course, the real reason they do it is control. They are just another troop of monkeys trying to set themselves up as the big kahuna, using lawyers and subterfuge to gain what they cannot in the public marketplace of ideas. The thing is that the one nation in which the engines of capitalism were most suppressed, the USSR, is also one of the most polluted nations in human history. So it isn't about their trying to prevent pollution.......it's all about control.

Richard Nixon, Republican, signed the EPA into existence. Radical environmentalists have been trying to do in capitalism ever since.

I understand that Richard Nixon signed the EPA into existence. I also understand that the EPA has done some great good in our nation. Things ARE cleaner than they used to be, in many cases. But, the EPA is too big (like many other parts of our bloated Federal government), and that allows it to be hydra-like. It should be concerned with GROSS pollution and by that I mean things like dumping barrels of organic solvents into rivers or running incinerators without filters. IF the EPA's budget were a more reasonable figure, then maybe they would have to concern themselves with items that were serious in nature and not every little thing that some green nut whines about. We DO have oil and gas in this nation, obviously, but if we only used our own supplies, what would it COST us? The fuel-from-coal thing can be done in a responsible manner. My dig at the man in the White House is that he is the current largest stumbling block to growing ALL domestic carbon-based fuel sources, but I admit he is by far not the only stumbling block, nor are all stumbling blocks marked with a large D.

In WWII the Nazi's had a compulsory recycling program. Organics were separated out and used in the production of synthetic oil and then diesel. This kept them viable way after the Ploiești and remaining "Operation Tidal Wave" raids should have shut them down.

Anything with cellulose (wood, plants, grass clippings, etc.) can be distilled into methanol and vegetable matter when heated in an anoxic atmosphere will produce a fine crude oil. I know of a farmer that does just that, he uses his junkmail and grass clippings to distill the alcohol and wegetable rinds, etc. to distill his oil and the diesel. A windmill and a smattering of photo-voltaic arrays completes the process and he lives off the grid with a fair amount of technology.

Between the oil and gas we are walking around on and a relatively simple lifestyle conversions, we could be most secure and independent. But the energy industry is far from a free enterprise segment of our economy.
