You are exactly right. Not politically correct what I'm about to say, but the vast majority following the teaching of Islam will be "extremists". There will be a "trigger event" that triggers *the* worldwide Jihad. When that happens, what do you think all the "mainstream" or "peaceful" Islamists are going to do when faced with the dilemma to either join the Jihad and true Islam or be killed?...to join the Jihad and kill anyone who will not convert or be killed themselves? No different than Hitler and Nazi Germany, only with a different tactic...and their plan is not hidden. There are many interviews with Muslims who have converted to Christianity or some other faith and have given jaw dropping insights into the thoughts and attitudes of American Muslims...and how they put on public faces outside, but are just as extreme when in the privacy of their own homes with family and friends.

Several years ago I sat at the dinner table as my sister introduced her Muslim boyfriend to my overtly Christian mother. The conversation inevitably turned to religion, and the thought process of this man left a lasting impression on me. After stating that Islam was a religion of peace, he conceded that Jesus was A prophet so the other people of the book (Jews/Christians) should meld into Islam. My mother countered that He was THE Christ. My sister's boyfriend's response was more or less, "I can kill you for that, because it is regressive thinking."
I told him he could try.
He didn't last long before he ditched my sister to marry a 16-year-old.

Was your sister there? Cause if I was dating someone and they threatened my mother that would be the very last time I saw them. Again through the door or out the window. He can take a cab home.

that is exactly what many, imo. i beleive have been saying. its simple with the muslims, "do as I say or die" so choosing is a non-voluntary action imo. peer pressure if you will of the extreme kind.
i feel its going to be worse before it gets better.
with the middle east, Europe and north africa is kaos, how long will lit be before it hits the mainland here?
