Horsefeathers!

So she was doing 66 in a 50 mph zone. Where are the forum denouncers of us old piddlin' folk who do the speed limit or less? He didn't need to drag her from the vehicle. I got a ticket a few months ago (the first since 1984) in the mail for running a red light in Lufkin. Macho man could have taken her plate after the stop, advised her, and e-mailed her a citation. I suspect Macho man is in for a reprimand? How many private smart phones were recordin' this scene?

Good grief! I'm all for enforcin' speed limits, but beatin' up on old ladies/women crosses the line, IMO. OTOH, he could have shot her for resistin' arrest and agressive, threatenin' actions, eh?

Yes, he did need to do just that. The suspect refused to show ID , he put her under arrest, she refused to get out of the vehicle, he gave her an 'assist'. Hopefully, she soiled her skivvies.

A simple, "Ma'am, I understand your physical problem and I am going to make this as quick as possible so we can get you on your way" may have moved things right along. Instead the officer jumped straight to ultimatums.

I believe some sensitivity training is in this officers best interest.

The world doesnt have enough cops to do the double effort you are proposing. Signing the citation is merely an agreement to appear in court at a later date instead of being arrested & jailed until then. If the cop let her drive off without issuing her a citation there is nothing compelling her to appear in court.

This woman's behavior was irresponsible and though I agree that the policeman could made a better effort to de-escalate, there was no difference between her manner and that of a thug. One dances to the music they play. Book'em Dano!

The place to argue with the cops is the courtroom, not the side of the road.

He could do nothing of the sort if there wasn't a policy to accommodate that in place. I don't disagree there are better options, but that one isn't on the table.

Having had UT infections I can tell you they are unbelievably painful and could make anyone not think straight. If you have never had one I hope you don't get the pleasure. They can make a grown man or woman cry with pain. Was the lady wrong--yes she should have handed him her ID. Was the cop a jack-wagon, yep. He may have been within the law, but good heavens, a little kindness goes a long way. Obviously his superiors thought so too. This goes in my file with the idiot cop who let a woman miscarry a baby because she did not have her drivers license and waited for hours to take her to the doctor. Was it within the law, maybe, was it heartless....yes.

I have to disagree with both her and the officer.

I feel like he could have handled the situation a little better. Maybe a little more kindness. However, as someone stated before, the LEO in this area are pretty strict. (I got stopped for doing 52 in a 50) and dont cut any slack to anyone.

And she could have just provided her license and POI. It would have gone a lot quicker. Also, I have had a bladder infection before and they are painful. But when the urge hits you, you have to go, quickly. Given the amount of time from initial stop to release, I am not sure if anyone with a bladder infection could hold it that long. So was it just an excuse to try and get out of a ticket? I think probably so.
