I am a dog lover, but with all the abandoned dogs we have in this country that are euthanized every year, why would we import abandoned dogs from Iran?

Wife and I just went to a giant pet adoption event in Round Rock. All the local shelters were there. Austin, Pflugerville, Round Rock, Georgetown, Taylor, etc..........

There were many many dogs and cats that needed a home. They are all overwhelmed. I asked one of the staff why so many and she told me in this economy people are just turning their pets loose. Some are taking them to shelters. They had 1/2 price adoption fees and many folks were getting new pets. We got a new cat that is a good fit in our home.

It's a sad situation.

It is sad how many get "put down" each year. If only people would spay/neuter their pets, adopt from shelters instead of buying from puppy mills or buying from pet stores (who bought from puppy mills), the situation would get a little better.
Also, to those who do adopt, a pet is a life long commitment. Not only for when you have time for them. Short of God, a pet is the only creature on earth that will give inconditional love.

Is Iran trying to beat out N. Korea and China for the most un-fun places in the world to live. Poor Iranians. They have to deal with insanity on a daily basis...let them have their dogs for crying out loud.
