Neil DeGrasse Tyson - Know Him?

Post by AustinBoy »

A strange plea.
Does anyone out there know who Neil DeGrasse Tyson is?
(he is an astrophysicist)
He promised my 11 year old niece an interview in an email and now will not respond to her. Her mom agreed to fly her to NY to meet with him!!
She is CRUSHED.
Looking for a connection.

I don't know, but it sounds like he's busy being interviewed by Bill Maher, Jon Stewart, The Colbert Report and doesn't have time for an 11 year old girl. Maybe he's brushing up on his snarkish, studying under the three masters.

I know of him, but we've never met (and aren't likely to unless my life or his changes pretty drastically).

Best of luck, though

first step in being a grown man is saying what you mean and meaning what you say. especially when dealing with a child. stuff like this stays with the young and molds them. set the correct example.

god bless.

You can try Reddit. If you present a good enough case, some people will probably help, maybe even rally around the cause.

IT WORKED!!!
Not sure how, but this forum is the reason they reached out to my niece.

I love this forum.

Looks like it was just a simple miscommunication.

My niece is so excited she cant see straight! She gets to talk to and possibly meet her hero!

Here was the response:

Dear Ella and Ms. Gardner:
I'm Jxxxxxx Sxxxxxx, the Social Media Director for StarTalk Radio, the podcast Dr. Tyson hosts.
Our apologies for any delay in the response -- it is not intentional.
It’s our understanding that Exxxxxxx is on a long vacation, from which she has not yet returned.
I am quite aware of Ella's email, and was incredibly impressed by her, as we all were.
As soon as Exxxxxx is back I’m sure she will be back in touch with you.
By the way, you can also give credit to her uncle, AB, for bringing this situation to our attention... it was his post in the TexasCHLforum that caught our attention.
Sincerely,
Jxxxxx Sxxxxx

Social Media Director

Thanks!

Good for him. That restores a little bit of faith.

I really like the guy and am glad he turned out to be OK. I'd have been very disappointed if he'd failed to keep a promise to a little girl. I'd have had a hard time watching any more of his programs. Congratulations to your niece.
