Different kind of Air Gun

Post by RPB »

The first rifle I recall owning, shot air, not darts, nor BBs, nor pellets, not chinaberries, just air (and sometimes mud)
My older brother had a BB gun rifle, lever action to pump the air pressure up.
My parents got me a rifle that shot air. Mine had a bolt or metal pin from one side of the barrel through the barrel so no projectile could be fired, just air.

My rifle shot mud if you load the barrel down to the pin.
Found a mention of it on a forum today and I had forgotten, but remembered breathing vaporized oil ...:
add a drop of 3 in 1 [oil] to a small hole and it smoked.

In the old days everything was simple
Air rifles shot air.

BB guns shot BBs
Pellet guns shot Pellets.
Now it's complicated
Airsoft guns are not even soft.
We need truth in labeling.

I had an air gun like that when I was a kid until my cousin broke the lever. I was not happy with my cousin.

I would let it go, but that cousin seemed to always break my favorite toys!!!

Ok, I did let it go a long time ago. Right after I quit letting him play with my toys.

I got one of those for my 8th birthday, after asking for a BB gun. Boy was I disappointed!
They Dad said "What's that over on the window sill?".
Santa had also brought me a new springer pellet gun, much nicer than a bb gun. Still have that thing.
