Would you spend or save?

Post by 1s1k52 »

Buddy wants to off load a maverick 88 for 80.00 24" barrel. Shoul I get it and put a 18.5 or 28"? I have nothing but some single shot shottys. I have read 50/50 if a tube extension can be placed without going to a 20" barrel or at all for that matter. Thoughts?

No, don't buy a Maverick for $80 - but give me your friend's name and number :evil2:

J/k - good shotgun $80 is a steal

Edited to add: yes with Mossbergs mag extension does require 20-inch barrel with properly located lug. Not as simple to "add on" - as a Rem 870 ... but honestly, I've used both 7-round 20-inch and 5-round 18-inch Mossbergs and greatly prefer the shorter version for weight, maneuverability etc.

Hmm well if I could extend it for a 18.5 that may work depending on what's involved. Haven't really seen any used shottys worth a look. Cheaper Than Dirt is selling a 18.5 500 for 275.00

Sucks they discontinued the 930 combo line
