FFL Problem: Item Delivered, No Contact From FFL
Ok, I bought something online and had it shipped to a local FFL.
He took delivery of the product on 9-14-12.
I have tried calling, texting, leaving voice mails, sent e-mails from his own website and sent him PM's on the forum I found him on...all to no avail.
The only contact I've had with him was over text to set up the transfer and then a few days later to ask what the transfer fee was.
I've met the guy before and bought two guns from him so I had no reason not to doubt him as he has always been on the up and up.
How would you handle this?
Would you contact the police in that city or what?
This is a first for me and I'm not sure how to proceed.
Thanks for your advice in advance!

My first thought is he is on vacation or maybe ill. Do you know where his place of business is? If so go by there.

His shop is a small office inside a self storage location with a gated entrance that required a code to get in.
Plus, that's just where he has all his stuff. He isn't there on a regular basis. If I went by there and he was also there I think I'd buy a lottery ticket on my way home.
Even if sick or on vacation he should have his cell on him unless he is incapacitated or something.

Re: FFL Problem: Item Delivered, No Contact From FFL
Any way to find out who signed for the delivery? Lots of FFL's have others sign for incoming shipments, then the FFL does the legal stuff. If you can find out who signed for the package, then maybe you could figure a way to contact them?

I try to leave my business cell at home when I am on vacation. That way I dont have the daily hastles from my wife about answering the phone constantly.

Instead of asking us (which really isn't a bad idea, thought), you might text him and ask what he'd like you to do: (1) call the police, (2) call the ATF (since they regulate his activities as an FFL), or (3) file a claim with the local JP and have the Sheriff serve him with the papers or (4) let you pick up your merchandise some time in the next 48 hours. I'll wager you get some kind of an answer.

If he went on vacation knowing he had an incoming firearm, that would be bad business practice at least.
If think my FFL would tell me when I informed him I had something coming to him.
I think 10 days is plenty long enough to be nice. I'd be stirring up some ...stuff.

He's obligated to be available during the hours he has posted with the ATF.
On top of that, he's obligated to log the receipt of the firearm within the end of the second business day following delivery of the firearm.
If you have reason to believe that the firearm is no longer trackable or was improperly delivered, you might want to call the Dallas ATF, Industry Operations center at (469) 227-4430.

He actually just e-mailed me.
Kind of odd timing in my opinion.
Oh, well. I guess we'll see soon enough.
Going to try to pick them up tonight after work

I think I'd let him know you were 2 minutes from having the ATF check on him.

Don't know.
But I'm sure he reads the other one we're both on.

Not yet.
I got off a lot later than I expected.
I'm going to try to meet up with him tomorrow sometime.
