“The classroom is a place where judgment is levied upon individuals, not unlike a court of law,” said Noah Molotch, an assistant professor of geography. “You interject a firearm and there’s potential for a confrontation.”
The potential for confrontation would seem to be much higher for those, like the Virginia Tech shooter, who don't have enough regard for the law in the first place to go to the trouble of getting a concealed license. But let's ignore that and, without a single case anywhere as evidence, assume that all licensed handgun carriers are going to go berserk against the faculty as soon as they walk into the class room.
A student bent on harming a professor can just as well arrange a confrontation outside of the classroom but I guess that prospect didn't cross their minds either or they would be cowering in the knee holes of their desks.
At the campus meeting on Friday, State Representative Claire Levy, a Democrat from Boulder, said she planned to introduce a bill during the coming legislative session that would let the university’s Board of Regents decide whether guns should be allowed.
Sure, let's take these important decisions out of the hands of the duly elected representatives of State government and put them in the hands of unelected Elitist academics who know what is best for the students.
