Motorcycle carry

Re: Motorcycle carry
This isn't specifically related to carry but it is related to personal safety. Something I do when riding is never stop directly behind another vehicle and never very close. I stay back a ways and off center with the bike angled toward that side of the vehicle and keep it in gear. This way, I can quickly get out of the way for whatever reason I need to. Besides other issues, I have seen plenty of vehicles hit while sitting at a light. This plus watching behind you would allow you to get out of the way.
I also agree that manuverability and acceleration are by far your best assets while on the bike, especially a sport bike.

Re: Motorcycle carry
Because of back problems I wear a Mueller back brace. (Available at Wally-world.) This is basically a thick elastic band with velcro adjustment straps. You have two sets of velcro holding it on.) It's not quite as thick and heavy as the back braces used by weight lifters. If you remember the "kidney belts" from a couple of decades ago, it's somewhat similar. My Ruger LCP fits comfortably in the small of my back under the brace. (In a pocket holster.) The elastic band gives quick and easy access to the gun, yet completely conceals it. Though the draw is quick, putting it back does require two hands. I have a tank bag that I can put it into, then lock in the trunk once I get to work. (Can't carry at work.)
I haven't used it yet with my heavy jacket, so I don't know how well it will work out then.
Another guy on the VRCC board uses a fanny pack.

Everything I need to know about motorcycle carry I learned from watching "Sons of Anarchy."

Re: Motorcycle carry
The only time I don't ride is when it's raining and gets below freezing which is not to often in south Texas. When I joy ride it is usually 300 miles or so down the back roads out to San Antonio and past depending on the day. But some of the little towns are sketchy yes I could go highway but that takes all the fun out of the ride.
Thanks for all the suggestions that have given will try most if funding is there ( new jacket vs new carry holsters vs ammo for practice and stock). Now that I look at it maybe I should just do what I have been doing and deal with it. New jacket = 2 to 300 dollars for textile, holster anywhere from 75 to 150 put that together and I can get a new pistol or 1000 or so rounds of 9mm.
Wow I just talked myself into a new carry gun must now wait until Pasadena this weekend

Happy hunting at the gunshow gunfando.
Re: Motorcycle carry
Thank you hopefully I can find what I'm looking for and I can make up my mind. Stuck on a 229 or the new 938 sig but that might change if I can find a nice 1911 in a 4 inch variety.
Re: Motorcycle carry
Open carry a long gun.

I rode tonight and met some friends and I leathered up - my jacket has a small pocket just inside the zipper that my 380 fits in well

One of these days I'll have one of these in .44mag to go with my Henry and Redhawk just to round out the collection.
