Malaysia - When Gun Owners Can Shoot

Post by JJVP »

“Therefore, there are several steps. If a citizen sees danger to the life of another person, in the case of a gun owner, the weapon owner can fire warning shots if he is able to do so and if the warning is ignored by the aggressor, and there is danger to the victim's life, the weapon holder could use the weapon to shoot the aggressor initially at non-fatal parts, like for instance the legs or arms.

“But if the danger to the victim is perceived to result in immediate death or serious injury to the victim, then the person with the weapon can shoot to kill the aggressor purely to avert the bigger danger.”

So I guess Malaysian ranges have full-length targets so they can practice their foot shots.

I wonder if they know that bullets dont magically disappear when fired as a warning shot? Perhaps once they discover this they will require you to carry blanks as the first line of defense, maybe even a safety whistle or a flare gun to alert authorities. :banghead:

I also wonder if this is how their police are trained. I doubt it. That mentality is so stupid. They are putting a higher burden and requiring lower percentage shots on the general public than they would on their own LEOs. It also puts the person one would be trying to save at greater risk of being hit by a bullet that missed the attackers arm or leg or didn't miss and just went right on through.
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

"Non fatal"???

I guess bullets fired at limbs must know that they have to miss arteries and not cause shock.

Me:

1. Bang (COM), Bang (COM), Bang (COM)
2. Walk to dead BG. Bang (arm), Bang (leg). Police brass and relocate to original shooting position.(been watching CSI)
3. From original position, aim gun to ground in a safe direction and, Bang, Bang.
4. When police show up, I tell them I shot two warning shots, over there are the ricochets on the ground. When he didn't stop, I shot him once in the arm and once in the leg. When he still didn't stop, I shot 3 times COM.

That's my story and I'm sticking with it. :smilelol5:

Exactly. My warning shots missed and double-tapped the perp dead-center.

I was shooting him in his arms, honest. Too bad they were folded across his chest when I shot and missed them.

I have a cousin who loves the idea of the warning shot, with a twist.

He always says, "As soon as the guy quits moving, make sure you put one more round through the ceiling."

He's a good ol' boy and it's not worth the argument to talk him out of it. Plus, he lives in a 1-story house on 1,000+ acres, so if he wants to put one through his roof I won't be the one that talks him out of it.

The visual cracks me up every time.
