Cook County ( Chicago) to propose a new bullet & gun tax

Post by talltex »

Toni Preckwinkle, the President of the Cook County Commissioners will submit the proposal that would tax the sale of bullets and firearms, because she states : "The legal gun shops in suburban Cook County are a conduit for crime in Chicago. There's no way around it." The proposal would add a tax of a nickle per bullet and $25.00 per firearmon all legal sales.

Sounds like a sure way to solve their gang violence problem... :banghead:

You don't think they would ever address the real problem do you?
If the 2nd admendment only applies to muskets and muzzle-loaders, then the 1st admentment must apply only to the spoken or printed word. Printing must be done on hand presses, news stories must be written in longhand, no keyboards or electric processes may be used.

How about taxing single moms who just keep having babies whose terminal goal is to be a gang bangers? How about those who sleep with gang bangers and have more gang bangers? TAX those people, first.

I am of the opinion that this is the path we will see gun control advocates take on a national basis at some point. Chris Rock made a joke one time about how to control gun violence. he sid if a bullet cost five thousand bucks, people would think real hard before shooting each other. it was during a stand up comedy routine but there is a hint of what is to come if we don't watch our flanks. While we are all afraid they will come straight at us with gun bans, they sneak in from behind by making the cost so high, nobody can afford a firearm.

How about have instantaneous face recognition/ Iris scan for gangbangers? Who is going to pay for such systems? I propose convicted gangbangers has to pay a $1,000 before each release from jail. Only gangbangers are in the Database.

Adding a "deterrent tax" is the perfect solution. Look at the success it has had on curbing tabacco use.

Many of us heard the current POTUS recently say that he favored resurrection of the AWB of yesteryear. If measures such as this, proposed by his adopted hometown, will yield votes, you can bet your bippy that he will be for it.

Yeah, 'cuz people who have been in prison for several years have a lot of money.

Actually, like in some countries, the relatives of prisoners could be responsible for providing or paying for the prisoners' food. If der mommas don' love 'em enough, der in trouble.

Thanks, but I didn't think of it. It goes back at least to the ancient Romans - those fun-loving dudes who invented crucifixion.

I though guns and bullets are illegal in Chicago, how can you tax something, if there are no legal sales.

You were wrong. Rifles and shotguns were always legal in Chicago. Handguns registered before 1982 were legal. Since the McDonald decision they have to allow newly registered handguns.
