Do you work in the movie or TV industry in California?

I'm just curious.

I think most props are inert replicas made to look like automatic weapons, maybe even "shooting" a little propane or something, not tens of thousands of dollars worth of fully functional class III firearms. Someone could put their eye out.

I would think it had something to do with the number of military bases in California prior to 1986. Lots of ex-military, especially prior to cali taking a sharp left turn in the late 80's early 90's.

Yeah... Nothing good can come from using a real firearm as a prop.

There is no way to own a select fire weapon in California except for a few exceedingly narrow exceptions having to do with police organizations, security services and movie props, if I remember it rightly. Except for the bullet button loophole, you can't even own an AR-15 style rifle with "evil features."

To expand further on RPB's thought process, to be truthful, I would rather own an automatic than a Commiefornian.

And regarding the movie prop real gun thing, didn't Brad Pitt get in trouble overseas for bringing a bunch of weapons into the country? I think it was all cleared up and they were for a movie, but why was the actor responsible for bringing them in? Why not the movie producers or someone else handle that?
