Too bad the POTUS, Parasite of the United States, and his staff didn't sign the same agreement.

While I do feel for them, they are under a nondisclosure agreement w/ the Navy to not speak about "classified" matters. I know this won't go over well with some of you, but regardless of what the President or anyone else does, anything red-tagged goes with a non-disclosure.

I understand, but it would be a good thing if we had a president who understood the word "classified" himself, and would kick is staffers' butts and fire them for divulging classified information.

because they and he never were military
shooooot
I still have 6 years before I can speak of things that never happened because i was never there and cant remember the year it didn't happen and those things may or may not scare the hair off your head or not because we cannot confirm or deny, or confirm or deny we cant confirm or deny
its tragic the potus or his staff can divulge sensitive materials
but we signed certain forms and those contracts are more than paper, they are morals and the pride we as servicemen hold dear and true to our hearts, even when horses rears do not
its not our tail feathers that we worry about, but those that might get caught up

I'm a little confused. The title of the thread says "Navy Seals in Bin Laden Raid punished". According to the article only one of those punished had anything to do with the Bin Laden raid and it appears that his punishment is completely unrelated.

Because he's hiding them. Period. There is no other logical explanation. Democrats are so stupid to vote for this guy and actually believe that his is the most transparent administration in American history. The only possible explanation for that stupidity is something congenital like fetal alcohol syndrome or something like that.

I agree with your basic reasoning, but there's also another way of looking at it. In "Mark Bowden's" book, No Easy Day, towards the end he reasons that since the POTUS, VP and others were out there bragging that Seal Team 6 did the job, as well as other details about the operation, he and others now had the right to tell their story. In other words, once the political leadership took the lid off the mission, it couldn't really be considered "classified" any longer.

I'm not really sure if that's a good legal argument, but expect it to come up. His book, btw, reveals very little else about the mission, from a tactical perspective, that we didn't already know. There is actually quite a bit of detail you notice seems to be missing. So, I think he may have covered himself pretty well. I guess we'll see, though.

His book is a great read. I think these other guys are in trouble for helping out some video game makers.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...
... I used to have a security clearance. I seem to recall the instructions were that classified information remained classified even if some idiot politician (or anybody) should release it. Only after it had been officially declassified, could it be discussed freely.

Footnote: I discovered that the purpose for classifying the information that I was privy to, was not to protect the technology from being used against us, but was because the technology being used was embarrassingly outdated.

Absolutely. However, are we sure the information is classified or worthy of being classified.

For example, when I was in the Navy I was an Aviation Electronics Technician on F-14 Tomcats and held a Secret security clearance. My mom was visiting me once and I asked if I could take her out to the planes and show her around and let her get up in the cockpit. I asked if I could take a few pictures of her in the cockpit, but was denied because some of the equipment was classified. Okay and what I didn't know about yet was the Walker's spy ring that had already been discovered. Anyway, a few months later I was up in Long Beach checking out the QE2 and Spruce Goose and in the gift shop were several magazines (periodicals) specific to each aircraft from the F4, F5, F14, F15, and F16. They all had details about the plane that included photos of the cockpits and the gear I was told was classified and could not photograph. I bought one and brought it back down to work and showed it to my maintenance chief, division officer, and CO and asked why I could not show my mom the planes I worked or take any photos of her in the plane. Never did get an answer.

So, I wonder if the information these guys divulged is really classified or sensitive at all.
