Fire a gun and your location can be pinpointed
Fire a gun and your location can be pinpointed, your face photographed and your identity instantly determined -- all thanks to a new technology tag team.
When Safety Dynamics’ acoustic sensors detect a gunshot, they zero in on the shooter’s location and point a high-resolution camera at his or her face. Airborne Biometrics Group’s FaceFirst software then runs the shooter’s image against a biometric database to determine identity, even creating a new record if it can’t find one.

So if you're in a city, and a scumbag draws down on you and you lose the firefight....they may still get him!!
This shouldn't bother us CHL holders as we're the responsible ones!! We won't draw unless we have to!!

Am I reading this right?
European governments had a problem with biometric databases, but our doesn't? What's wrong with that? I would have thought EU would have been okay with this and the US against it.Indeed, Facebook recently suspended its dabbling in facial recognition in Europe in response to government reservations about the company’s biometric database on European citizens.

I am not a lawyer, nor have I played one on TV, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, nor should anything I say be taken as legal advice. If it is important that any information be accurate, do not use me as the only source.

I suppose it's a good thing robbers never wear masks.

And drive by shootings are not from inside a car and no one ever shoots a gun at night.apostate wrote:I suppose it's a good thing robbers never wear masks.

I think that's part of the reason we haven't seen these systems, which have been in the works for a while: they are expensive; and only really useful in urban environments; and depend on rapid response times.Texas Dan Mosby wrote:Right.
