What is a prefered hand tactical light?
Hello, I'm wanting to see what people know from experience on tactical lights for which is a good brand or model to own.

Streamlight and surefire are the best.

Streamlight strion LED is what I wear at work. It is small enough, has excellent battery life, and is under 100 bucks with a charger.
While Surefire's product lines are more respected by the mall ninja crowd, I find Streamlight's products are well supported, and brighter, for the money.

I carry the Streamlight Stylus Pro. For me it has two advantages -- first, it's about the size and shape of a Sharpie, so it's easy to carry in a pocket, and second, it runs on two AAA batteries, which I can reliably find in almost any emergency (there are usually remote controls or toys most places I go).
At 24 lumens, some would laugh at calling it "tactical," but it does what I've needed. It's got a soft push button on the tail, and you can flash it or click to keep it on.

I remember when SureFire 6P was the tactical flashlight and Streamlights used D-cell batteries. Times have changed. My "tactical" flashlight is still made by SureFire, but more often than not my hand goes to the 4Sevens Preon2 in my shirt pocket, or the fauxton on my keyring.

I agree with Streamlight having better bang for the buck.
Also look at Fenix - I've been very happy with my little PD20 - it's my EDC light, about size of a 12-gauge shotshell but puts 190 lumens

There are so many choices out there depending on your preference. http://www.candlepowerforums.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; is a good place to educate yourself on all the variables with lights. What seemed like a pretty simple choice on the surface after some research it turns out that there as many variable and choices as there are in fire arms. http://www.batteryjunction.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or www lilghthound.com are a couple of on line retailers. ( light hound has its storefront on the west side of Pearland). http://www.foursevens.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; sells there brand direct. I started out looking for a Tac light like you and found out that flash lights are as addicting as guns are.
I love the sound smell of jet fuel in the morning.

You can get a 3 pack of Nebo Redlines for about 70 bucks. These guys are great. 3 brightness modes, strobe, SOS, 220 lumens, strong magnetic base, (it'll stick on the fridge and light up the kitchen) comes with AAA batteries. I've got 6 of these and never had a problem.
