Justice Elena Kagan has taken up recreational shooting and hunting. She likes it so much that she has moved from small game (quail) to big game (elk).
.....
The shared hobby started during her confirmation hearings in 2010 when Kagan told a senator who was probing for her views on gun rights that she had never been hunting, but would ask Scalia to take her if confirmed. When she officially landed on the court, Kagan told Scalia about the promise she made. Amused, he first taught her to shoot clay pigeons before graduating to quail.

"Last spring, he said to me, 'It's time to move on to the big game,' " she said, adding that she would miss today's football game in Neyland Stadium to hunt antelope with Scalia in Wyoming.
Reminds me of a true story of an Anti-gun College president who was taken shooting; then he and his wife got their CHLs ... and came as close as he could to testifying for campus carry ... or .... we can hope "they" listen to logic and statistics, but Brady Bunch mentality people don't.

I've seen plenty of stereotypical "country boys" and ex-military-looking types at shooting ranges, both in Texas and California. But I have also seen a WIDE variety of other folks who do NOT fit any stereotypical view of "gun people". A lot of people who are "against guns" amazingly enough have never even fired one. Its OUR job (and the NRA's job, IMHO) to show those folks that shooting can be FUN, if they do nothing else with their firearms than punch holes in paper, or "kill" tin cans. WE know that our firearms can have a serious purpose if called upon to do so. And others, once they aren't so afraid of them, might hopefully understand that as well...and if not, well, it sure doesn't hurt to have a larger base of folks who are better INFORMED about what firearms can do and not do. Helps counteract that massive negative image the media ALWAYS pushes on a daily basis.

I hope it leads her to change her anti gun views....

but being a hunter is a VERY long way from being an advocate for the original meaning of the Second Amendment.

Exactly! The 2A has nothing to do with hunting.

I don't for a second believe that turning someone into a hunter makes them a strong advocate for the Second Amendment. However, Justice Kagan aside, it doesn't hurt to have the base of shooters and firearms owners grow, either.

:iagree: Shooting a gun removes a lot of the fear that many people have about firearm. Besides, it will give her something else she can do on Christmas day. :smilelol5:

He's special and smart. All of the special snowflakes are smarter than us plebes, and the powers that be will let them keep their guns, because they're not a plebe like us.
