3 Observations

Post by chuckybrown »

1. Yesterday, I was driving to an appointment and earnestly channel surfing on my truck radio. A show on NPR was about hunting. They had on the Senior Editor of Field and Stream, and two other women hunters. To listen to that 40 minutes was painful. "Why do you hunt?" "What do you get out of hunting?" "What do others think of you being a woman and a hunter?" And the list of questions went on......

The "oh my gosh hunters are hillbilly's" aspect of the host were....just that in my humble. She claimed to have grown up in Wisconsin (if I remember correctly) but "wasn't a fan of guns".

2. On the way to work today I was listening to "2nd date update" on 93Q here in Houston. A woman would not return a man's call after a first date......because he "hunted and had guns". It was eye opening. During the course of the on-air call, he shared that he had his CHL, and was in fact carrying on the date. She was a nurse, and was so appalled (allegedly...I use that word for legal purposes) that she ultimately hung up after voicing her (allegedly) disdain.

The DJ's (both male and female) seemed to support his position, and point out how he's like "every other man in the state of Texas". The guy even said "what's her complaint....that I might possibly save her life?" Classic. I truly hope this woman finds her future "metro" dude, armed with.......his passiveness.

3. My nephew-in-law.....a rather liberal (yet loveable) Ohio resident, posted a picture of a "Don't Mess With Texas" mug on his Facebook page today...that he encountered while traveling. His picture had the quote under it "I wont'". The comments from his liberal friends were...."or we'll execute you", or "make sure you brought your passport, they plan on seceding", or "how do we handle illegal Texans pouring over our border stealing our jobs", and finally "Texas takes litter so seriously they put it on their mugs, and shirts, and everything else".

I share all this to make a point:

We get it. We understand heritage, and the right to protect ourselves, and the difference between right and wrong.

The rest of our country....not so much. They think we are all a bunch of backwards country bumpkins.

Ladies and gentlemen.....the world is changing. Rapidly. Are you ready? Do you understand the frustration boiling to the surface?

I pray for us, but more importantly....I pray for my kids.

Peace.

I truly believe that the time that talking will change things is over. Prepare, if you want to survive. :txflag:

It is an an honor and service to be armed, that is the case for the historic Arabs some 1500 yrs ago. Back then you could be either a "Poet" or "Knight". That is what 1stA and 2ndA stand for, no?

I suggested leather chairs for an important conference room one time. A person objected, saying they could never sit in a leather chair. I said well what kind of shoes are you wearing. She proudly showed me her plastic shoes.

I love to shoot, but I do not hunt. It would not make me happy to kill an animal, even if it was to eat. I have no objection to other people hunting.

The talk of succession is silly. Would Texas really want to take on its share of the nations debt. Probably it would be allocated by size of the state rather than population.

I'm glad I live in Texas.

Nurses generally don't like guns of any kind.

That nurse is going to have a hard time finding an acceptable date in Texas... well, unless she moves to Austin

You sir, are an extremist. At least, that's what someone else on this forum told me, for expressing similar sentiments to yours. Wear the Scarlet "E" proudly, my friend.

TAM everyone is an extremist to someone. However, I find most of my values and beliefs aligns fairly closely to yours, and I know a lot of people who think i'm an extremist. Most came from the land north of the Red River.

Anyone who objects for me being armed, I would respond:
1) You think I do not not need my self-defense means, I guess you do not need any kind of insurance, starting with healthcare, car, home insurance too. That hurts your pocket.
2) You think I am a wacko or gun nuts, next time and when you are un-armed as usual and some bad criminal wants to inflict some really bad bodily-harm on you, your cell-phone battery is dead, your calls to 911 result in "Service is busy, please call again".
3) Have a calm and long dirt-nap.

Here are a few Clint Smith favorites:

"When seconds count, the cops are just minutes away."

"I carry a gun cause a cop is too heavy."

"If you carry a gun, people will call you paranoid. That's ridiculous. If I have a gun, what in the hell do I have to be paranoid for."

"The handgun would not be my choice of weapon if I knew I was going to a fight. ...I'd choose a rifle, a shotgun, an RPG .....instead."
